Wow, that little? My record was somewhere close to the 900 kills 89 losses :O

The best thing for you to do is NOT to get trained but to play against people who are better then you, watch their build orders and how they move their units and one day you'll be a great player.

are you just making that up to tease me, or did you really have that much kills vs. Flabio....? i was not making mine up.

btw if you watch the best players own you that ain't gonna teach you jack all other than that you can die pretty darn quickly in this game. best way to get good is to be trained by an elite player like me; although i don't do training because then the ungrateful n00b pigs who I train sometimes end up stabbing me in the back later on

I meant that 900 kills in 1 game thing.

As for experience, you gain more experience when you're playing against a good player and observe his playing style, you can copy it and it'll already be custimized by your needs instead of just: "windtrap >> baracks >> factory >> refinery > upgrade refinery and windtrap," etc etc etc.

Playing against a good player multiple times will give you more and more experience, much more then when you're being trained.

watching a good player doesn't help very much because you can't see his stealth units or how he queues things. best way to learn all the little nuances is to be *told*

You can see them when they fire, giving you an idea of how he uses them, in how many numbers and how many units there are in a group, i have to admit though, you need atleast some experience in the game before you can do this.

The magic word: custimisation, you don't need to know how many fedaykins he's building, you only need to know that he IS building them in (insert situation), numbers all depend on the situation, 3 fedaykins are futile against 20 minotaurs so you would be better off using them to call some worms and use them as a distraction while your well micromanaged group mobs up the remains.

Anyway, it's your opinion and your playing style.

but you can't see how he uses his Fremen in formation, how he moves them (when not attacking), how many he leaves in his base for Guild/Dev Drops/what-have-you. there is a lot of information that is lost by just watching someone play.

You can see how he attacks your units using his fremen (does he attack them from behind? does he position them on some infantry rock? behind his units?)

how he moves them (when not attacking)

You don't need to know how he moves his units, what matters is where they're heading to (which you'll find out when he's attacking you)

how many he leaves in his base for Guild/Dev Drops/what-have-you.

You'll find that out sooner or later when you attack him, i tend to remember things better when i'm not forced to learn it and when it came as a surprice.

wish there was an easier way to do multi-quotes.

yes you do need to know how he moves Fremen, because otherwise they can all be lost in a matter of seconds.

and n00bs won't be able to pull off complex tactics well like proper Guild-use and proper Dev-Drops so a realistic amount of Fremen wouldn't be needed in those cases hence the elite player may not bother leaving them in his base

This is one thing that I like about Generals is the replay option. It allows you to see all units (even stealth). This way you can look at others build orders and maybe adjust yours from there if you would like. I wish EBFD would have done that might not have gotten as stomped when I first started playing.

I learn by playing skirmish against multiple cpu opponents. I know they aren't as good as humans but it still often forces you to build your forces as fast as you can, thus learning a balance in building units and collecting spice

I think Westwood should have included a 'spectator mode', just like in Unreal Tournament.

Something what a few of us do is watch games between really great players. How? Say lets have a 3 or 4 player game. The watchers just quit after the game starts, don't leave just surrender. Now you get to watch and learn different BO's and unit placement, offense, and defense strats.

I watched a game the other day and the guy was playing against some AI to teach me a BO and the funny thing was after he won the game and went to the lobby and paged me I was still watching his game.... ??? it was like a delay feed on satellite kinda cool and weird at the same time. ;)
