I think the Dutch Anthem doesn't make sense, when our country got conquered, well, our country was conquered but the people wasn't conquered, we kept on resisting and fighting for freedom.

So, I don't really get it why the Anthem has something 'Spain'

Even though, I am Dutch, I hate the Anthem, I like the German, Japanese and Russian and even the Chinese and Vietnamese(And suprisingly the Mongolian) Anthem can draw my ear's attention. They have great melody..

Edric, maybe you could bring a pie into your flag too. Everybody loves Pie!

I don't care, he is Dutch.

They might as well kick the guy out of the Anthem and come up with a REAL Dutch anthem.

"Beer in my hand, freedom at my side.

With Germanic blood flowing through my veins, we will overcome the enemy with our bravery and strength.

"

Holland rules!

Ummmm, Dutch is very close related to the German culture and language, you should learn history better.

In fact, Spain, England, French and alot of other European countries are from Germanic origin.

If you believe in the 'Homo sapien evolution' theory.

I understand what you mean when you say France has germanic roots. The Franch people was born from the celto-roman populationa and the germanic tribes of the Franks (whatever).

Spain on the other hand was not. Yes, the Goth passed through there, leaving the name of Catalunia (Gothalundia). But that is all. No germanic roots.

British National Anthem:

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

God save our gracious Queen,

Long live our noble Queen,

God save the Queen!

Send her victorious,

Happy and glorious,

Long to reign over us,

God save the Queen!

O lord God arise,

Scatter our enemies,

And make them fall!

Confound their knavish tricks,

Confuse their politics,

On you our hopes we fix,

God save the Queen!

Not in this land alone,

But be God's mercies known,

From shore to shore!

Lord make the nations see,

That men should brothers be,

And form one family,

The wide world ov'er

From every latent foe,

From the assasins blow,

God save the Queen!

O'er her thine arm extend,

For Britain's sake defend,

Our mother, prince, and friend,

God save the Queen!

Thy choicest gifts in store,

On her be pleased to pour,

Long may she reign!

May she defend our laws,

And ever give us cause,

To sing with heart and voice,

God save the Queen!

English National Anthem:

Land of Hope and Glory,

Mother of the Free,

How may we extol thee,

Who are born of thee?

Truth and Right and Freedom,

Each a holy gem,

Stars of solemn brightness,

weave thy diadem.

Tho' thy way be darkened,

Still in splendour drest,

As the star that trembles

O'er the liquid West.

Throned amid the billows,

Throned inviolate,

Though hast reigned victorious,

Though has smiled at fate.

Land of Hope and Glory,

Fortress of the Free,

How may we extol thee,

Praise thee, honour thee?

Hark, a mighty nation

Maketh glad reply;

Lo, our lips are thankful,

Lo, our hearts are high!

Hearts in hope uplifted,

Loyal lips that sing;

Strong in faith and freedom,

We have crowned our King!

Spain has Germanic roots, but they've had alot of immigrants from other countries.

Since they're close to the Arabic and European continent.

After all, the Islam's influence, influenced a small part of Spain.

But over time, the influence got kicked away.

A historian explained all this, but he could be wrong.

It's amazing how people keep saying we're all different, but we are ONE race.

I would say that Bulgaria is a typical land mixed with other people.

Turkic, Mongolian, Slavic, Germanic, Roman, etc etc.

A nomad land.

The Bulgars were a nomad Turkish people. They were a moving state. In their movements thy passed through Russia (Volga) , Ukraine, Romania, and reached the present territory of Bulgaria. By then they were already slavizated. Some of the bulgarians reached southern Italy.

Nomad Turkic people(Bulgars) entered the land, but the land was already mixed with other tribes. So, they were just another tribe that searched for a new home.

But the main tribe of Bulgaria is Slavic.

Germanic, Romanic etc etc etc.. they even kidnapped people from other lands I've read and assimilated them into their culture.

(The land wasn't really called Bulgaria, it was called Bulgaria when the people united and fought against the Byzantines)

It is like Russia, the people there are mixed and immigrants from other countries entered it.

Bulgaria also has a mixed culture, it is slightly Arabic, Asian and European.

So you can really notice the land had Asian/Arabic/European influence.

And.. I've visited the country, it's a nice place there and the people there have all different faces.

So, it's confusing which is a tourist. :)

Hmm a strange thing. You know all (most) Bulgarians are Orthodox, right?

Well, near Bucharest there is one small town that has the majority of the population composed of Catholic Bulgarians. That's strange!
