heaven can be attained by all, and is done by grace. works, no matter how good they are intended are just not good enough to get to heaven. Imperfection cannot attain perfection. Perfection can reach down to make imperfection perfect though. taht is key.

Informing people of all the reasons for a religious position (or the errors in those of others) is fair enough, but setting out with a strong determination to convert someone is not a good expenditure of time - it is much more logical to try to convert people to becoming moral.

After all, which would you all prefer, a moral world with the wrong religious stance, or an immoral one with the right one?

I'll take a moral world with the wrong religion any day. Because the other option is a world of sheer hypocrisy, something of which God would never approve.

Better to serve God without saying so, than to live a life of sin while claiming to serve God.

Did I ever call you a Satanist? And, besides, other Baptists have called me everything from Heretic to Pagan to Anti-Christ/Satanist to just being "of the Devil" plenty of times.

Note "The baptists around here..." I meant where I live. :P

...or anyone else for that matter. This is a general thing, it's not directed at one or two people. If I wanted to convert, I'd go to a church or something. I'm perfectly happy being an Athiest; more so than when I was (somewhat) Christian. So I frankly don't need to hear all this cr*p about how I'm "going to hell" or how I'll "be forgiven if I convert". (Though forgiven of what is unbeknownst to me; I haven't commited any crimes or anything.)

So yeah, just leave me alone there. No more topics like "The Dread Legion", the purpose of this forum is not Athiest-bashing. Or liberal-bashing or Democrat-bashing or Communist-bashing for that matter. I would think it's for calm, reasonable discussions; let's try to keep it that way, K? 8)

OK, stay as you want. Baptists are a bizzare Church, your funny president is there too, so what do you expect? But if you'll need, watch out for good old catholics, Jesus will always wait for you ;)

Then he better grab himself a Snickers, some lemonade, and a good armchair, because he is in for one looooooooooooooooooong wait. ;)

and what if you managed to convert someone?
Baptists are a bizzare Church,
I'm curious as how you think so, (inless your reffering to the hypocrites that are there in some places. also if you want you can make a new topic.)

Why do I think they are weird? Well, all protestants are bizzare in some way as I think only over catholic Church as normal (altough even that is sometimes unclear). They change everything in believe they dislike despite it could be a core of believe. For example, nearly all protestant churches ignore Jesus' ban of divorces. About liberalism in baptist church, I am no patriarchist, but female bishops? That's too much for me.

Female bishops? By religious system of christianity, men have right to preach (of course after specifical rituals) as women have right to give a birth. There can be professional female theologist, but not a real priest. Also Jesus was man as well as his apostles, from which bishops and priests descended.
