Only a MORON Would Quarintine Himself

Some of you guys need to attend biology 101. SARS is a VIRUS. As a virus, it cannot be cured. You can be innoculated for immunity to it, and the symptoms can be treated to a degree but there is no cure and there won't ever be unless we can find a cure for viruses which would be simply miraculous.

Arokh, SARS is NOT permanent. That should be apparent to even the slightest of intellectuals. SARS = Souvere acute respiritory syndrome. Keyword = ACUTE. Acute = temporary. Short term. NOT permanent. Whoever told you that is just dumb. People have recovered from SARS, quarantined themselves for the needed time and already returned to society. SARS is basically a flu.

Colds don't give you a high fever, SARS does. The symptoms are not comparable. The only think you could mistake it for would be a very bad flu, and if you had gotten your annual flu shot, which you should have, you would either never catch a flu or if you did the symptoms would be so lame you wouldn't be able to tell it was anything more than a common cold virus.

not that I don't agree with you ACE but, one thing is that the annual influenza shot does not always work, it's a thing where there are several types of the flu, and scientist predict which flu will be the most common that year, and that's what they make for the year...

but it would be quite easy to distinguish a rhinovirus ( one cold causing virus) from SARS ... notice how in the name SARS it says Severe Acute Resperatory Syndrome

a common cold is hardly severe nav (o sorry... Arohk) in fact the only way you would be able to not have SARS but something else, is if you had a really bad flu virus.. but even still, what is the point going around work or school or wherever and spreading either SARS or Influenza.. whichever one you have, you shouldn't be so selfish and spread i to everyone who doesn't want it!!!

Do you think it is more likely that we will find a cure or a vaccine first? Does anyone knoe which of those two they are pumping most resources into?

there is no cure for a virus, as ACE said, there are only vaccines... which are not a cure, simply a dead or injured virus which they inject into your body in order to help your body produce natural anti-bodies which will fight against the virus in case you catch it.. but i'm not sure, but your body doesn't have natural anti-bodies to everything such as engineered virses (obviously) or something that has just came to be such as SARS... so i dont' know what they do for things such as that.

although there is a problem, and that is they have to find out the code of the virus so that they can find out how it works, and then leading to a way to try and stop it.

small pox was eliminated from the earth... but that's probably the ONLY virus ever to be. And that is because they were able to make a vaccine and get the whole world involved in giving the vaccine... which is a very difficult thing to manage, as you can probably imagine.

but they still keep (well are supposed to) only 2 more samples of small pox, one in atlanta at the CDC, the other in Moscow (i believe) although it is thought that some people may have made more viruses.

the reason that they kept the samples was in case another virus that was very similar to small pox came about, and they may be able to make a vaccine faster.

but there was an outbreak (or thought to be one) in a russian laboratory of small pox, which killed several people.

but the reason some people use small pox for making biological weapons is because they have DNA (or RNA don't remember which it has) that can be easily manipulated to be put together with other viruses making it a very fast killing virus.
