To be a slave of Christianity is this:

one who does not agree with Christainity AND devotes a significant portion of his/her life into fighting it.

Basically the bulk of the people you will find on these websties:

www.landoverbaptist.com

www.atheistnetwork.com

www.infidels.org

www.atheists.com

these people believe that:

1) this short life is all you have

2) The Christian God is no different than an invisible pink unicorn

yet they literally DEVOTE themselves- their energy, their time,.....their very lives...against this very thing they reject. They do so with emotional fervor.

WHerever Christianity goes....there they are following like dogs on a leash...shackled and bound....bonded into slavery.

They are frail men on their knees chained to the Cross of Jesus...unable to escape. They are NOT free from Christianity...they are defined by it. Their lives, inexorably tied to the Christian religion; so much so, that if you removed Christianity from their lives, there would be little remaining.

My heart cries for these people. It saddens me to see such a waste of life. WHy do people waste their lives in this manner? Rather than spend so much precious time putting your energy into something that you reject....put that energy into something you can live FOR.

they might be happier as a result.

but for now, they are slaves. Slaves to Christianity.

Did it ever occur to you that they value the truth, and that they see Christianity as one of the many things going against that value?

Once again, you are telling other people who they are, what they think, what they say, and what they do...

Blah-blah-blah, yadda-yadda-yadda...

You have no idea how much time they devote their lives to debating against christianiy (note: not fighting, as you childishly like to put it). Yet you speculate, that because there are sites with people discussing christianity, atheism, etc, they must devote a significant portion of their lives to it! Utter nonsense.

Great sites. (Landover is hilarious, and oh-so-true) :)

*Buzzer* Wrong! Those sites are populated by atheists, which has no bearing on what their beliefs are, so for you to claim this, you must see a post by every one of them or a note, saying those things. Pure speculation on your part.

False, false, and once again false. You must really love this streak you have going.

Devote is ...

1. To give or apply (one's time, attention, or self) entirely to a particular activity, pursuit, cause, or person.

2. To set apart for a specific purpose or use: land devoted to mining.

3. To set apart by or as if by a vow or solemn act; consecrate: a temple devoted to Apollo.

The first definition applies here. So, using that definition, you are speculating that they give or apply entirely to a particular activity, etc. Pure speculation on how they go about their lives. You have no idea how much they give or apply their lives to debating against christianity, so your assertion is worthless. But let's continue...

Emotional fervor, eh? Actually, I see quite the contrary. A lot of people may joke in the threads, but the real arguments against christianity are comprised of logic, reasoning, and objectivity. That's what is great about atheism, logic and reasoning is on your side.

They are frail men on their knees chained to the Cross of Jesus...unable to escape. They are NOT free from Christianity...they are defined by it. Their lives, inexorably tied to the Christian religion; so much so, that if you removed Christianity from their lives, there would be little remaining.

Purely your opinion, I'm ok with that. But don't speculate on others' lives, and then comment on them.

The rest of the post are comments, not really worth replying to.

i just tell it like it is...they are devoted to...and enslaved to Christianity. Inseperable.

BUzzer! Stupid! In the same manner that not all Christians believe the same thing...and a Christian website has no bearing on what their specific beliefs are, your statement is true. But in the manner that it is a common view among atheists that God is as credible as an invisible pink unicorn, that is absolutely 100% factual and you are out of touch with reality to claim otherwise....and a liar.

true...true...and more true.

You are not free from Christianity, Acriku. YOu are drawn to it....bound to it. You couldn't escape it if you tried. And I am sorry. It does sadden me. I hope one day you will be free from it.

It happens on both sides emprworm. I doubt Acriku or other athiests spend all their time debunking Christianity although there are bound to be some that do. Is it really that important to start a thread about it?

Posted

You do not tell it like it is, emp. Like Gob specified, a handful of people from each method of thinking, atheism, Christianity, Scientology, hell even agnostism are so vehemently absorbed by their position that they spend every waking hour of every day trying to convince the numbers of their ideas. The difference is that you call the atheist ones slaves, whereas you call your own converters 'missionaries'.

i wasn't until Acriku decided to get his last word in and lock his thread.

i need to make this point because nowhere in any philosophy do you see such negative devotion to someone not believed in except atheism.

All those little arguments atheists use to justify their negative devotion to Christianity (like: "well its the most popular") is obviously just a sham.

Buddhists in the US are also affected by majority Christians and they don't give a second thought to Jesus. Why? Because they are FULLY seperated from Christian doctrine. They just plain have nothing to do with it. Atheists, on the other hand, are wrapped in it like a Christmas present.

And you accuse US of having prejudices...

You would be calling for a ban if someone on this board made such a rash generalization about Christianity. I loathe such deliberate bigotry but I will not sink to your level.

yada yada....yes, Ace, you are above me on the righteouss scale. I will concede that point to you. Next point?

Well if you're going to be petty about it...

How about truth? Honesty is one of my highest values. I don't seek to change but I will defend my position. That is why I post in threads such as these. Do you deny that this is, from my perception, a very legitimate reason to defend my believes versus people of any nature (in this case, Christianity)?
All those little arguments atheists use to justify their negative devotion to Christianity (like: "well its the most popular") is obviously just a sham.
Not from me. How boring do you think it would get if we were debating a faceless, subjective, undefined deity? This is the place to discuss religion; any religion is fair game. If a thread were to be started about Islam, Hinduism, Judaism etc. as they have been before, I would and to post in such topics. I've never made a thread trashing any religion and I won't start now, so don't expect me to equalize the actions of others on this forum.

Oh? Nothing to do with it eh? I could probably exceed the character limit for posting by explaining the way Christianity effects my life and even more so for atheists living in the US. 'fully separated' we are not. You would certainly not be 'fully separated' from the majority Islam if you lived in Saudi Arabia.

ALL of those sound nice, but they do not change one single little fact. Many atheists cannot escape Christianity. They are bound to it. It has nothing to do with truth. If they were concerned about living a life of truth...then they would simply LIVE THEIR OWN LIVES, rather then spend their one single finite life inexorably chained to something they consider as logical as an invisible pink unicorn.

It is sad to see this, because It pains me to see someone who believes this life is all you have...and then squander it by following around and being possesed by something he completely disregards. what a needless waste.

Emprworm, how you can even discuss with someone, who makes such replies ;D Who doesn't want to hear the truth is a SLAVE of his thoughts. Mind of such slave is blind, closed and fanatical. Senseless djihadist, fighter against windmills. Pathetical hater, like our national "hero" Palach, who burned himself because he was against communist intervention in 1968.

So let me get this straight...In order to be free from Christianity, I have to do what the Christian Church tells me?

War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Intelligence

Well, you've got two of them. ::)

we have two people who grew up in the US: A Buddhist and an naturalist/agnostic/atheist. Both were equally exposed to Christianity. Yet the atheist spends his time thinking about Christianity- night and day, while the Buddhist hardly gives it a thought. The atheist is a slave, on bended knee to the Cross of Christ. The Buddhist is simply indifferent.

Now you're telling people what THEY think?

Now quit making faceless generalizations and name some names. Who, on this board, would you classify as one of these 'slaves'? Would I be one of them, perhaps?
