France, Germany and Russia strictly put their hands off Iraq, when they had to help UN with forcing them to agree with their resolutions. They closed eyes, when he banished inspectors four years ago and opposed, or better criminalised military intervention of USA. Now, after US made the dirty work they seek a way how to mine as much money from post-war reconstruction as possible!

Um. There is a problem with that idea.

By accusing France and Russia of trying to 'mine', you say there is more monetary advantage, and less benevolence involved in reconstruction efforts.

In which case, this would incriminate ANY country involved in it - and if the US seeks to dominate it, then it is no better than you claim France and Russia to be.

Given that the two countries are thousands of miles closer to Iraq than the US, and not that much poorer than the US, why should they not be allowed to help rebuild Iraq?

Because we baked the cake without any help, we can eat it without any help to.(they supported Saddam and the old Goverment they done missed out and history will judge them accordingly)

They can help. But all the work was done by USA and UK, so they should control any flow of money here now. When France wants to send some baghettes to feed poor Iraqis oppressed by Bush's imperialism, then let them do so, but they shouldn't expect they will be able to build a baghetteria shop here soon.

In other words, the USA and the UK conquered Iraq on their own, so they should get all the spoils of war that come from plundering it.

Thank you for supporting my point that the US invaded Iraq to satisfy its own greed.

Sure. To ensure they won't strike first. Maybe not on US directly, but against their allies like Israel or Turkey, which USA have to protect. It is THEIR own problem, that's for sure.

So basicly you're saying Caid that Turkey and Israel consists of cowards completely unwilling or unable to defend themselves.

If there were an imminent threat to either nation, they should express those fears, and then the UN should help them if their fears are justified. It is not something that should be used as a cover up for ulterior motives for some cowboy president.

I am interested who will provide the peace keeping force for Iraq- usually in this sort of situation, the US loses all interest in the country and leaves it to other countries to keep order in post war times, like the Dutch and German forces in Afghanistan.

Edric, hardly so. Maybe it did have benefits for the US. Does that mean the US went in because of these benefits? No. Is it possible? Yes, but very unlikely.

darn straight. repugnant france didn't spill a drop of blood, or spend a single cent...they get NOTHING.

the US should reimburse itself for the war, assist in government, rebuilding. Once the war is paid off, then Iraq should have full control.

but Russia, France, Germany get ZILCH. NOTTA.

If I were a liberated Iraqi there'd be no way I'd want to deal with French, German, and Russian weasels who supported Saddam with weapons and money even after he turned sour.

I'd sooner see contracts and subcontracts go to ANY of the 45+ countries who supported the war against Saddam in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I would rather sell cheap to Iceland or Azerbaijan than sell high to France or Russia.

Of course, that's just my opinion...

the iraqi's are not idiots. in time, they will learn about what the world thought of them. They will learn of the oppressive hypocritical bourgeois of France, Russia and Germany and will repugnantly shove their middle fingers in their faces....to my gleeful satisfaction, of course.

Turkey and Israel are able to defend themselves. But they haven't enough power for prevent attack. When someone shots at your head, it is too late for banning weapons for him. You cannot "justify" fear, because UN consists not only from endangered states, but also by those threating states.

Anyway, there are still US forces in Afghanistan. Yesterday, two US soldiers died in a gunfight. How many Dutch soldiers have fired at a Taliban warrior? USA is only country, which has enough courage to FIGHT for others, not only come to oversee slaughteries as UN forces in i.e.Yugoslavia.

"the US should reimburse itself for the war"

And this is a good deal of the sort of reason why I opposed in the first place. Not that I'm about to argue about it, before Empr tries to attack me for it.
