just saw a bit of the movie, and noticed that they have dogs. both atreides and the emperor. ugly dogs. I think that is lame, why not have cats instead that would fit better for the emperor. The Golden Lion Throne.

And its director`s thing what to put in his movie. And if I have to say true, I don`t remember it well :-X I saw lynch dune long ago...

Well those are Pugs (wonderful dogs, cute too.lol) and they are often a symbol of wealth and regal living. Plus, keeping the genetic line of those kinds of dogs is amazing and they must be a rare commodity in Lynch's universe.

oh there are plenty more. Remember also, that Lynch took Frank's ideas and modified them to create his own work of art. It isnt towards the Dune universe like frank's. It is Lynch's and the screenwriters own thought on the story.
