Oh My God, Did They Learn ANYTHING?

I saw this in a newspaper a week or so back.

Russia has a Stalin day to celibrate him! Are they MAD?

Perhaps they recognize the man that was only shown to them through propoganda? Who knows. But, maybe it is a day to recognize how bad dictators can be? Have you read what the purpose of the holiday was for, instead of the "celebratory" part?

Maybe to someone staunch capitalist like farmers and lower-class pple might respect him for the moves he directed,so to SOME of them,it is something to celebrate.

Most Russians have always loved Stalin. when hed died even the People that he had arrested and put in jail mourned him, and that was through their own sense of loss, they weren't forced to do it.

There is, of course, a story that I heard that might explan this. A long time ago in Germany, there was a man, names are irrelervant to the story. Now this man went through his life hating his father, who used to beat him, and loving his mother. When the mans mother died he went to the funeral and though he loved his mother very much, he could not cry, try though he did. But when he attended his fathers funeral he found himself crying incontrollably for hours. The reason is that his hatred for his father was the driving force in his life. When his father died his life was empty and he had nothing left to live for.

Maybe it is the same thing with the Russians and Stalin.

I've heard somewere that about 70% of todays russians think that Satlin did more good for Russia than bad.

There are many evil men. This one just happened to come to power - and quite a lot of it. And he was damned good at being a totalitarian dictator. I rather suspect that that is what is being celebrated.

Cruelty is to be endured if the country rises in the world. Which, after the mess between the Tsarist rule and Stalin's, is to be welcomed. He wasn't a nice person but at least Russia survived.
