Like HR said, it is the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome - that's what they named it cause they don't even know what it is yet. But it's kinda all over the news, since in just about a week over 150 people are infected, mostly in China and Vietnam, but there were several cases in Canada as well as Great Britain.

The disease does not respond neither to antibiotics, nor to antiviral drugs. The WHO fears it is a new deadly strain of influenza, which has the ability to cause a massive pandemic. There was travel alert issued to the countries that have the most cases.

It is still unknown whether the disease is caused by a virus or a bacteria, but the first one if more likely.

So far only 9 people of the 150 are dead, but many are in very serious condition, having been attached to the hospital respirators. Death comes from respiratory failure.

well, i don't know how contagious or lethal it is. I do know that a number of people have died because of it already, and perhaps it will become a very deadly desease. I do not worry too much about it now, but i do think that it is something that everyone should know so they can keep that in mind if they go on vacation or something
