Is there a way to put ANY type of unit on a map (for example: you make a map, and put 8 minotaurs on each rock plateau) is that possible?

i think in the map editor you have an option to place buildings on the map, but i am not sure about units.

No, it is not possible to make a map with mino's on it.

The only units that can be placed are in a crate ( infiltrator and naib tank )

yes, there is no way to place units except in crates... there are more options then just infiltrator and niab tank, but there are not options for units like regular house units...
