The star of Dune

I have an idea of a mod which stars the "Worms"(Shai-Hulud).

Houses go on with their normal conflicts, battling each other with their trade-mark weapons & strategies. But with a twist, they cannot stay on the sand for too long as they will be doomed to be eaten by...the Sandworms.

A mod where Dune is infested by Worms, and the only way to invade & destroy the opponent/s is through the use of air offense or speedy units where they can move & "hop" on stone platforms to make an attack.

The Fremen become more powerful as when they summon the worms, their range of fire is able to penetrate ground buildings & units (just like in the movie).

The worms will be huge and ugly, they can be killed but they will spawn back with a vengence. The star of Arrakis... the Shai-Hulud.

Yep, Dune2 on the genesis got me started on the whole Dune Saga. Dune2 has more worms (I think), makes it dangerous to travel on sand. This "specialty" made the game into a classic, wish they remake the next dune with more worms involved.

You don't find worms or these sorts of hazards in other RTS games like C&C or Warcraft. It makes the game more unpredictable & addictive, and sets it apart from the other RTS. Think Westwood should trade-mark this idea.

Somewhere at the top of the Rules.txt so you find some interesting things. You can specify the maximyum amount of horizontal and vertical worms. Default it is 1 vertical and 1 horizontal. But I assume you will raise that number.

Are you going to make the worms very strong too?

Bad idea because: It frankle screws Ateides over....

1) What speedy units do Atreides have? The sand bike, almost any Harkonnen unit is faster then any Atreides unit along with Ordos, Atreides main fire power is through minos, mongoses, and kindjal all of which are slow.

2) Atreides dont have a good air force, ok they have the orthinopter but they really don't dish out the damage...

It would be a pretty simple mod as all you would need to do is edit the rules.txt

I think one of the points of the mod would be to make you more dependent on carryalls.
