In the spirit of the "this is fun" thread, I've been looking through the old topics... and found this one.

Now compare that with what we have in this forum today...

It seems hatred has just proven itself to be stronger. :-

Yes acriku, my you've changed quite a bit. and you may indeed change again...who knows. i decided to unblock edric to read this thread (he is back on block though). look what I discovered:

Yeah, me too... I *almost* said "God bless America"... imagine that. :)

you know, this is such a sad statement. I am so glad God does not look at planet earth like humans do. God does not see a map with a bunch of lines on it- he sees the earth as one would from space- no borders....no nations. Just land, earth, sea, and sky. And life. It is sad to hear that Edric would say that. It makes me wonder what he hopes God will do then...if not bless.

I close by saying: May God be with the people of Romania.

well yeah sure, my opinion changes constantly. It's too hard to keep the same opinion constantly, especially in the case of the US since Clinton and Bush differ so much from each other

(Emprworm is on my ignore list because of his racist comments against France, but I took him off it to see what he wrote in this topic)

First of all, Emprworm, you misunderstood what I said. I'm not sorry I almost said "God bless America". Given the situation, and the information I had at the time, supporting the US was the most logical course of action. And we must never forget that 3000 people died at the WTC. The attacks caused human suffering and death, and we should honour the memories of the victims. If saying "God bless America" does that, then by all means, may God bless America!

However, I do not believe that pledging your alliegeance to a war-mongering corporate puppet does anything to honour those victims. "America" is a cold, impersonal, meaningless piece of land, and its government is guilty of many crimes. Therefore, it would be far more appropriate to say:

May God bless the people of America!

Beyond nations, beyond artificial borders and arbitrary divisions, we all share the same blood. We are all human. And so the sentence that best honours the memories of the WTC victims, and all the victims of strife and conflict everywhere, is this:

God Bless Mankind!
