Who all watches Oz?

Oz rocks. I love that show. I ain't down with any of the "homosexual" stuff in it and that really puts me off, but otherwise I say it's the best show on TV in the past 10 years. The acting is certainly unmatched by anything else. Nothing else even comes close. Ditto for the writing. It's actually deep and profound.

The latest season hasn't been as good and it's clear the quality is starting to slack off, but it still is a million times better than anything else on the tube.

Do any of you guys watch Oz? Who is your fave character? What's your fave episode? What has Oz taught you about your real life by way of allegory, symbolism, or sheer rawness?

If he is talking about what I think he is Oz is a really cool show about a very violent prison. I liked the episode where they taught you how to make weapons out of stuff you would find in a prison, that was pretty cool.

Oz is the most under-rated show ever. It shoulda won 50+ Emmys every season it had been on the air, which is about 4 or 5. The last season is either airing now or soon to air. Not sure because I don't live in the US which is where the network who makes it is.

It's about what happens to people who are imprisoned and how prison works as a society. It's about how prison drives people crazy, forces them to be violent, turns normal guys into "homosexual" psychopaths etc. It has a narrator which uses symbolism and allegory to relate this society to the general American society as a whole. It has the greatest pool of acting talent I've ever seen assembled on a TV show. Not so much in the last couple of seasons though, as many of the best characters got killed off hence the actors who played them are no longer around.

Anyone who hasn't seen it should try it out. It's addicting. You'll always wanna know what happens next. It's like the ultimate "soap opera for guys"

The intensity of the actors is really what makes it so compelling. The actors are such masters that you actually forget you're watching a TV show because they leave no hint that they are playing a role. The intensity trancends anything you'd see on a "regular" TV show. I don't just mean the violence, which there is a lot of. But every word, movement, facial expression, is spot-on perfect.
