New version available.

24/Nov/03 - Full release of Terragen v0.9.19 for Windows. This release represents a merging of the public and non-public versions of Terragen and includes significant new functionality. Some of the highlights are a new rendering method using depth based occlusion culling for greater rendering speed, an enhanced detail mode, new capabilities for the water system and a separate zoomable terrain preview for more precise editing and camera positioning. Read more about it here.

Can't wait to try it out and see the difference!

From what I can tell it seems to be better, but I cant seem to get the color instead of black and white for the landscape builder part of it. Other than that it looks good. Layout for water is different.

I don't see it. :(

Can you expliain further and add a screenshot? (circling the part where I can change it?)

I looked at the landscape part(where you edit the terrain) and then under view/sclupt but it isn't there.

The crazy part is mine doesn't have that... Did you download the latest version full, or just the update(for previous versions?)

I will try to uninstall it and reinstall...but I dont see how that is the problem as I just installed it when i made my first new post in this thread.

EDIT - I reinstalled it, but it still didn't work, I tried changing the resolution to maybe make the area larger so it might show, but that didn't work. I tried changing my windows theme to yours, but that didnt work!?!

Help! I dislike the black and white colors!![attachment deleted by Gobalopper]

Ok, please help.. just downloaded and I'm not that good.. My landspace color is made up of squares that are different colors making it look crummy.. plz help

I suggest you try the generate random terrain at first, then preview(or render) it to see what it looks like. I still don't know how to make good terrains from scratch not using any random generator things.

You might also have to increase the detail level. which should get rid of the "pixilization"(squares) but it will take longer to render/preview.

Andrew try hit the minus sign over to the left of the brush size bit.

I don't think that worked. (it makes it smaller, if I then make it bigger it still doesn't make it bigger than before)

But you did give me the idea to use the tab button which changes what is select...and I noticed when I hit it a couple of times it dissapeard, so then I pressed down and it selected color! Hurray!!!!

I still dont know why it wont expand to show the option of color or greyscale. :- Will hvae to email terragen about that sometime.

@Bryorama: There is still more quality items in the "render settings" button.

Does the size of the image and render settings reset everytime you close and open terragen?

Go to Terragen's website.

http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/

Then go to the resources page:

http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/resources.shtml

There you should find everything you need. Whether you can get them to work the way you want is another question.

The only program I made use of was terranim, which makes scripts so You can make videos of your terrain.

An example is Emprworms Extreme Terragen!! Virtual tour of my world.

Another is the video of Dune I submitted to Fed2k.

I've also made several videos for Sedermia but are not online.

To see several landscapes I made and incorporated into it, check out teh website. (the name of a city/town might have links to pics)

I tryed that.. Like making the sun orange and stuff? Well the problem is when I try to do that on a water one - it turns the whole ocean orange :-P

Anyways.. how do you make like - rivers and lakes? I can only make the whole map that way and make islands on that..?

I think you can make them manually easily(but not pretty). Or make a random terrain, but increase the height of water so it goes over some lower land.

Just so we don't forget:

As for posting images, Gob before said something along the lines of he didn't like everyone posting multiple images(bandwith/space etc.) Although I forget if he didnt like the idea of a person deleting a pic of their own in a previous post and adding a new one in its' place.

Right now I'm making a 700 frame video at 160*120 resolution. Should be done in an hour or so. Don't know if its possible for me to upload at my site or not.

Yah, go to the screenshot where I had the problem, thats where you make the land manually, and you can add stuff over it(random) but make sure not to overwrite what you did. You can also change every aspect of clouds, water, sun etc.

Thought some people might want to know that Terragen is now free full version with some updates (has been since Nov 2003).

The biggest one I can think of is the 3d preview which is really cool.

Oh and since I last posted, it now draws closest to origin first instead of doing the background which gets hidden usually by hills/mountains anyway, decreasing the time to render an image.

Also, the size of the terrain (the total area) is much, much bigger than allowed before.

Get it
