Nyarlathotep Posted August 10, 2001 Author Posted August 10, 2001 Yajjjj more problems :(To all, I will go in Dutch with olkiller, might be better for him :DNyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 10, 2001 Author Posted August 10, 2001 MooKy, your system specs would help, although my guess is that your prob is due to a heavy loaded battlefield. Specs would help to determine what could be the casue though...Another thing....what does the "h" option do ?? and shoudl it be +h or -h ?Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 10, 2001 Author Posted August 10, 2001 I hope it works now dune01, though it still might be the cd, as you're still playing the same house, but I guess we'll soon find out :)Nyar...

Guest WarpPig Posted August 11, 2001 Posted August 11, 2001 Err... yes. Seems I bought a game I can't use!Yes, I tried tech help. Downloaded direct X 8, sorted out poor sound and slow refresh on the intro sequence.... but that's about it. Also tried reducing my video specs - resulted in an even faster crash!Nothing I can do without a new card then? Thanks for the suggestion.. Will try it on my g/f's machine, which is a bit better than mine, see if that works!cheers
Guest olkiller Posted August 11, 2001 Posted August 11, 2001 warpighow lanny Gb (or MB) of your Gb (or MB very unlikely) is still free and fullbecause if you don't need to download and so on to much i would say try formatting your computer but this is only if u are hopeless (because i know you can have bad problems after your format)(i've done about 10 times) (3 this year)but i wuld say is it the intro that freezes ?or doesn't it start up you get the loading screen but then it doesn't start or just ingame the intro freezes if it is after the loading screen i would say format becausze i you have got lots of broken links on your computer (not joking)it could block your game to start up (I had this with Black & White) so.......
Guest olkiller Posted August 11, 2001 Posted August 11, 2001 how come i only have 4 MB free RAM ??? that a little fault i hope i was running MSN and ICQ but that can 't take 124 Mb of RAMolkiller
Guest olkiller Posted August 11, 2001 Posted August 11, 2001 i would just wanna know 1 thing about my problemis it the game that disfunctions (bad installation corrupt files etc)or is it my hardware and software because if it is the game it won't be needed to tryout it on another computera friend of mine has excactly the same computer only not a 3D cardso if it would be the computer i would try it on his computer with my 3D cardelse i won't gonna try anything unless it is on my computer itself(this is not a common problem is it ? no freezing or so but only if i move) ow yes culd this be caused by a code ? or not ? if so i won't try anything more if not i would try everything (well almost)ow yes nyari think i'll try to put everything like youhave (options and s on) and maybe i'll go to Win 2K ?olkiller
Guest dune01 Posted August 11, 2001 Posted August 11, 2001 Nyar, didn't you say one of your machines had a GeForce 3 in it? If so, can I email you my saved games to see if they run on your machine without crashing? Also, did you see my last post before this one?dune01
Nyarlathotep Posted August 11, 2001 Author Posted August 11, 2001 Dune01, yes, my comp has a GeForce 3 in it. It's a GeForce 3 from Asus (v8200). THAT's the only reason I'm hammering on the fact that my card details show the name of Asus as driver provider and none of your's do.You're welcome to e-mail me your save game.respect_30@hotmail.comNyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 11, 2001 Author Posted August 11, 2001 Warpig, yes, 8mb is to less to run the game if you ask me. I believe the minimum pecs include a 16mb video card...I hope it works on your g/f's comp !If you need any help, just post it :DNyar...
Guest WarpPig Posted August 12, 2001 Posted August 12, 2001 Olkiller - I get the EA and Westwood animations, locks up shortly after them...BTW, it does work on my g/f's machine (great game it is too!) - but she also had a 8mb card?!!? Wierd...At least I can play it now... somewhere...WarpPig.

Vladimir_Harkonnen Posted August 12, 2001 Posted August 12, 2001 This maybe off the subject but Nyar helped me with my lockup problems and told me to get Cacheman(4.1). That worked Now Cacheman(5.0) came out and that sucks worse than 4.1 cause in 5.0 u cant presset to 3D games like 4.1, u have to manauly do it. Just to let u guys know.
Guest nine12 Posted August 12, 2001 Posted August 12, 2001 Nyar: Yes I've tried every combination of +w-c possible. :(
Guest maximushq Posted August 12, 2001 Posted August 12, 2001 I have had the game lock up quite a bit on me. Mostly in multiplayer though. My sytem specs are PIII 750mhz, 384mb system ram, Xgamer sound, Voodoo5 video. My friend on his 750 Duron, 256mb ram, tnt2 video has lockups too. This game is buggy and I hope the next patch fixes this. And how about support for the voodoo 5 cards in this game. The textures get messed up. I put the -C in the games shortcut and that helped some but not much. And deselecting multitexture in advanced video options helps too but then the graphics look bad. I know 3dfx is out of business but aren't game developers supposed to target hardware that has been around a while not only the latest thing to hit the shelf? It would be lame if Westwood didn't at least try to address the problem.
Guest tpwhite Posted August 12, 2001 Posted August 12, 2001 Using the "+w" in the shortcut seems to work.I just finished the first mission and saved the game. However, the video is out of sync with the audio. I can live with that. It's just likewatching a Bruce Lee movie...The video during the intro (from the hard drive) synced up fine...I did install the VIA 4in1 drivers for theVIA VT82C686B chipset. That didn't help before the +w thing but it might not hurt if anyone else has this chipset on their mobo.If you don't know for sure that your motherboard has this chipset DO NOT TRY IT. OK? I just installed this new mobo and AMD so I used the latest drivers when I updated. I didn't know anything about the 4in1 drivers until I saw it on the E:BFD support page, so they WERE good for something. I have a feeling, though, that the drivers were already on the CD that came with my mobo since it is a new product. It seems to me that alot of the problems with the lockups in the video are related towhatever the "+w" or "-w" enables and CD ROMissues. Note that after you install and uninstall a few times, the game reports that the CD is not found. This is because of the heavy copy protection I'm sure. I bet that most of the aggravation that people have, besides not being able to get their game to run, is having to deal with the copy protection. Anyway, it took all weekend to install and now that it works I have to go to work in the morning... Bummer! Well, I hope this helps you guys. Good luck!
Guest dune01 Posted August 12, 2001 Posted August 12, 2001 Nyar, I am out of town on business right now until August 17. I will send you my saved games for you to try when I get back. What kind of sound card are you running in your machine with the GeForce 3? I REALLY appreciate all your help and suggestions, as do a lot of other people on this forum.dune01
Nyarlathotep Posted August 12, 2001 Author Posted August 12, 2001 dune01, no problem. Send it whenever you have the time for it :)My system specs:Intel PIII 1000MhzAsus CUSLC-2 motherboard512mb RAM2x maxtor 30gig 7200rpmAsus GeForce 3 v8200SBLive! valueWindows MENyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 12, 2001 Author Posted August 12, 2001 tpwhite, I went over your E-report and I find your sound parts very confusing. At the beginning it says "MPU-401 Compatible" and later it states that you have a SBLive!. Does your motherboard have onboard sound ?Also do the following, (if you haven't done so already):1) Go through the FAQ.2) Go through this thread and try the suggestions3) Contact WW tech support (sorry, need to ask).4) Summerize what you've done so far to get it fixed (hate to suggest things you've already tried :D )Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 12, 2001 Author Posted August 12, 2001 maximushq, I played the game on a PII 400, 128mb ram and a Voodoo 5 and it worked for me (graphical settings set to low).Nyar...
