you have no way of being sure by looking at a bunch of sand that you are within 2 seconds of the halfway point in a 4 minute hourglass

Wow this is pretty tough to get lower times, maybe I have to think outside of the xbox...er box. Because the lowest time using th emethod eva and I have used is 21 minutes, I worked it out all on paper. There are two set paths that you must take or you will repeat what you just did, so I know that is out. Something else...Hmm...Blast this riddle! :D

Let's see if this works:

Put the egg to boil. Flip both hourglasses over. Flip over the 4 minute one when it runs out, do the same with the 7 minute one when it runs out. When the 4 minute one runs out again flip the seven minute hourglass over. It has only been running for 1 minute and therefore when you flip it over it will have the time of 1 minute. You wait that minute - 2 flips of the 4hrglass + that 1 minute, it makes 9 minutes in total.

Final answer - 9 minutes.

way to go vigil! That was a hard one, I'm impressed.

i dont know if this makes any sense or not, but that riddle is the hardest "simple riddle" I know of- if that makes any sense at all.
