i have problems with my CDRom

i cant install anything, when im installing a program the computer stops installing and shuts off. ctrl-alt-delete doesnt work either. help? :-

No idea. It still does that when you reboot?

yup. i just let my friend borrow my 8-brush cdcleaner, so i mihgt have to wait. or get a new frickin cd-rw again.

Well one thing I've heard is that it's not recommended to operate a CD burner in hot weather. Is the CD burner the only CD rom drive you have? If you have a normal CD rom drive, maybe you can use that one to install programs from CDs. Otherwise, I have no idea what you could do to solve the problem.

did you just recently install it? if so you may have the wires not connected right as my friend had this problem, maybe try switching the wires. at your own risk.

nope. just one cdrom. i dont think i have any cooling problems, and its a normal temp in my room, so, i dont know. i have 2 or 3 fans and lots of vents. nyar might know though.

ok, my mom has been messing with it and, the monitor goes dead while installing things. hmm. maybe thats not all. i will go back and see if it finishes. (i have two PCS, one withoutnet, the one i am working on)

The only thing I can think of is to try and swap cd drives. It's the only way you can find out if it's the cd drive that's faulty or not. I assume both pc's have cd drives. Try swapping the one from the comp that works into the one that doesn't and see what happens (in custom made pc's, it shouldn't be that difficult to swap them).

ah, sorry, but my mom wouldnt let me do something like that. maybe i can persuade her. :)
