You know that everyone thinks that Hitler is the worst and the evilest person in histrory. I was wondering if you compare Stalin and Hitler, which one would you think is worse?

Stalin killed as many if not more people as Hitler did. Stalin and Hitler both killed certain minority groups. They both did not like jews.

Hitler was in power for only 12 years. Stalin ruled for 50 years. When you take that into account, you'll see that Hitler was MUCH worse. He killed people way faster, and would have killed a lot more if he had 50 years at his disposal.

I won't choose anyone. Maybe Hitler made bad in his short time, but Stalin spread communism over half of world's population for half of century. Just pray no like them will come again.

I'm not sure I like communism much. I'm more of a social democrat (or socialist).

The bolshewists got their name from a congres in London before the revolution (it couldn't take place in Russia because the czar had agents there). Bolshewism means something like "philosophy of the majority". Mensjewism is of the minority. Mensjewists want to establish a socialist society by means of aquiring a majority of the parliament and reform democraticly. Bolsjewists want to establish a socialist society by means of a revolution.

In western countries we have no need for a revolution- we aren't being oppressed. So that leaves only the democratic way. In countries like Cuba under Batista, with a opressed mass, a revolution is required.

Maybe philosophy isn't the right word. But you get the point ;)

Kerenskij was the guy who led the provisional government after the revolt? Anyway,

End februari the czars troops refused to back up the czar and he had to step down. The new, provisional government was mainly comprised of wealthy civilians. They organised new elections, but Lenin decided to revolt against them anyway.

Lenin was forced to flee to Finland, where he got his hiding name Lenin from, wich was later commonly used (his real name was Vladimir Iljitsj Oeljanov). He came back on 7 octobre and on 23 octobre the Red Guard grabbed power. On 28 octobre founded his new government.

On the election of 25 november the bolshewists only succeed in getting about 25 % of the votes. A group of moderate, democratic socialists has the majority of votes. Lenin sent the elected representatives home and a civil war followed.

Actually, when czar abdicated, official control of Russia had been given to "democratic", de facto oligarchic government of Count Lvov. In June he was replaced by Kerenskij. But power remained in feudals' hands. On 7th November (in iulianic calendary 25th October - that's why it's called Bolsoja Oktjaberskaja Revolucija ;D ) bolsheviks led by Lenin came into Winter Palace at Petersburg and declared Soviet Union. No democracy was behind it, all those votes were manipulated or only partitional.

Lenin's name was Vladimir Iljic Uljanov.
