Why no support for Emperor initially? Does it not use the same connection format as the other WW games?

ahh cant resist some cheap shots. Well here let me return the favor.

westwood exposed is a stupid site. ;D lol it has a CEO! :D cmon, how laughable can you get? a CEO? haha. it also claims on its staff page: "WSE Over 400 Registered Followers and increasing every day " which is false. For example on June 28, they gained no new members. The forums are a joke. other than 1 guy with 2000 posts, the TOP posters have only 100-600, fall short of the amount of posts on this forum. :O Out of 882 total members, 528 of them dont even have a SINGLE post on the forums. Basically the forums over there are admins talking to each other. Hardly a place needing a CEO. :D

Not to mention it picks fun of WW, which has suffered great financial hardship and deserves more appreciation than that whiny WWE site gives. I cannot respect a site whos philosophy is to bash / discredit a company that has put out some very good games. ;D

some of that may be true, but if they continue with this, it would be one of the biggest boosters to emperor yet! It could possibly bring back the community! For these reasons, Westwood Exposed is good.

Emp, I agree with you that WSE's approach is to extreme. I mean, just look at the intro to their site. But I've got to agree with the just of what they're saying. Yeah WS made several great games, but they havn't supported a single one! It's ludacris. No game company should be able to get away with doing that. Take Blizzard or Sierra for example. I like WW RTS better than Blizzard's but Blizzard supports their creations forEVER! Half-life (sierra game) is like 4+ years old and they're STILL supporting it with patches and anti-cheat tools etc.

Yea, i saw their intro. Very good talent to make it, no doubt about that, but I found the whole premise to be counterconstructive. If WW isnt supporting their games to your satisfaction, then what good is making an anti site going to do but further polarize the community from the game maker? If their games suck then that is another story, but their games are great. They just dont have the STAFF to support them like you want them too. They are financially in dire straights Ace, i have to give them some leeway there. And did you read d3's post about losing his CD-key? Westwood simply mailed him brand new CD's within a week. I'd call that some pretty good customer service in my book.

Plus they ACKNOWLEDGED us. Thats better than those other guys that made the "other" dune game- barely gave Madi or Gob even an acknowledgment to their existence. If you want to anti someone, anti THEM, dont anti WW.

Hi guys let me see if i can hit everything in one post, may be a little long though. sorry

There's two reasons for this. Reason number one is that the makers of WU have to make a patch that allows you to connect to the WU online servers, it also contains certain files for the cheat detection, and a server interface page. This patch has to be made for each game. In addition to making the patch, servers have to be set up the same way but with alot more software and work involved. As a result the servers may only initially support say two or three of the online games i stated in the first post. Then a couple of months later another game is added, etc.

The second reason is that you have to pick and choose which games you'll initially support, and ebfd didn't have the popularity with WSE/WU that is has here. If you remember a while back, i asked any mods and loyal emperor players to go to WSE and show their support for ebfd on the WU servers, for the most part this didn't happen. THis is not to say that ebfd won't be supported, its just that emperor players will either have to go to WSE/WU and show the makers that there IS and allways WILL be a community for ebfd, or they will have to be patient and wait till all other games have been added.

I would also like to comment on emp's comments. I am not sure emp got the jist of the WSE site and all it's content. If you read about the sites "CEO" and his experiences it puts the sites context into a better perspective. Basically the site was created because so many ppl in the WWOL community had absolutely no clue as to the terrible support Westwood was giving it's products. WSE wanted to educate gamers as well as get a response from WW in an attempt to actually help the company recover it's tainted reputation. Not many ppl are aware of the latter of the two reasons WSE was created. WSE allways has, and still does want to help WW, but you can't help someone until they are willing to recieve help, and WW just won't bite. But in the meantime WSE didn't want WW gamers going out like lambs to the slaughter and buying any WW game that hit the market. So until WSE could recieve any hope of helping WW we focused on educating gamers in the online practices of WW.

Because the number of ppl in disbelief of WW's crappy support was so staggering, WSE decided to back up it's claims and stories with proof, and as a result, for a while, WSE displayed each and every trainer/hack/password generator/etc that was currently used on WWOL gaming, and thats when ppl really started to see the truth with WW's lack of patching, updates, and support.

Not long after making the info on these programs available WSE actually got a response from WW/EA ;D, a major victory in the sites mission statement :). WW/EA sat down with WSE site admins and CEO's and hacked out a plan to get WU up and running even faster than was expected. As a show of good faith, WSE took down all the previously displayed programs showing WW's flaws (and and making them public), and in return convinced WW/EA that it was in their best interest to support WU and cheat free online gaming. Unfortunately, the old generation of WW support staff still exhists and ultimately put the kabash on WW/EA supporting WU :'(. But unfettered WSE pushed on, and we will soon have a medium to support totally free, cheat free online gaming 8) 8).

As for emp's comments about the number of site forum members, we actually do have around 400-500 ppl that post on the forum, the rest need pruning, and i'll get to that in the next week or so. The last pruning we did recieved some negative feedback when ppl that don't post in high volumes came back to the site they love to find out that their accounts no longer exhisted :'(, so i've been weary to prune non active members lately. But i'll get to it soon.

The fact that we had no new members on June 28th doesn't convince me that our site has no demand, sorry, just don't see it ;D. Keep in mind also, that our site is about 3 (maybe 4) years younger than Gob's site, so saying that our forum has a post volume comparible to Gob's forum is actually a compliment, thank you. I would also like to point out that emprworm didn't go to our IRCD chat channel, where there is also significant traffic. If we didn't use IRCd then the number of forums posts would be at least double what it is now ;).
