I said "fuck" in the Dune 2000 Westwood Online channel and apparently it permanently banned my nickname from using Dune 2000 multiplayer. How do I unban it?

I believe someone posted a program in another thread that will filter out bad language for future use. And language bans usually last 24 hours or so.

Doesn't work, the ban is on the CD key of the game. Therefore, if you try to play under a different nickname but the same copy of the game, you'll still be banned. I had an experience similar to this on the Westwood Emperor chat channel, but I didn't say anything as extreme as "f**k".

How strange. Normally if someone says f&*k they are banned for at the maximum 24 hours. But it's usually about 2.

Well it's either the IP or the CD key. At least I think it was the CD key in Emperor, and it surely is the CD key in Starcraft, if you get banned from battle.net. How long after you were banned were you able to get back in? The ban might have expired by then, if you got back in over 2 hours or 24 hours later. :P

there is NO cd key for Dune2k. hmmm, i said ash1tray and got banned forever. odd. but it doesnt work on my comp anymore.

also, the "veteran" players were being assholes and a "veteran" player somehow got me banned.....hmmm....

Apparently it is NEITHER the IP address or the CD key that is banned - you're right in that I was able to use my original nick after 24 hours, but in the meantime I was able to use an alternate nick I created just fine.

No player can ban you. The only way you can get banned is by your own ignorance and stupidity.
