how on caladan do i create new units

icopy an existing unit and all of the rules (units lists etc.)

and the same on the art file and when i load the game and try to play the game crashes

yes it took me a long time to get used to emps little tantrums. it seems to crash for apparently no reason

but the fact that it crashes means uve dun sumthing wrong in the inis

copy a unit, paste it under, change it's name, then put it in the declaration section.

ahh yo buddy its so easy to create new units ya know you make your unit section in rules then you do the units weapons and stuff the in rules you go to units types section in there you add the section of your new units name in the house that the unit supose to be then go to art.txt in there add a new section of your unit edit the xaf and all the icons stuff then if you want to give the unit a sounds then you go into the sfx data(this one you find out your own ;D) then to give the unit a name you go to text strings.txt in there you add your units section name and after the section you do this:{in here you type your units name}ok??? did i explaind that right?

well essentially it is but it can be very frustrating when the illogical mess that is emp cant run it for some bizzarre reason that is unfathomable to any normal person.

Yes, the INI's are a mess, but in my post TLContaminator, I forgot to mention adding it to the ArtIni.txt file.

well i can now do a new unit without the game crashing but how do i read the textsrings.txt its in gibrish

open it with wordpad, not notepad, for some reason notepad can't fully decrypt it, wordpad can.

I find myself agreeing with that now. I've learnt how to make new units myself, and I've got a good understanding of the rules.txt file now. ;)
