What I find interesting, and almost quite scary, is there IS a reason for everything. There will have been something before the universe, you can only wonder what it may have been, and if you go far enough the chances that you find another race as advanced or more than us is terribly, terribly slim, but the universe is so big I think it allows for these chances.

As for the hammer, I really like the speeding up evolution idea. Whether it's true is another matter...

Btw, terror, whole rule of Stalin has taken about other 50 million people due to his national transfers, starvations (much food was transported in 1946 from Ukraine to east and central Europe to compensate Marshall's Plan deny) and NKVD terror.

true, sadly :'( but true. stalin didn't recognize his problems and only razed taxes. This way farmers had to give away too much grain/stock so that the next year harvest would be less than normal. This way many russians died :'(. Stalin was such an asshole

Well, the plan economy was to harsh. If a factory didn't receive enough iron to make 50 tractors as dictated by the plans, the plans would not be changed. Since "mocking" the plans was a crime, a factory manager would solve the situation by delivering say tractors with no engine inside. This way Stalin screwed up the entire country.

The main reason for the early succes of Hitler in his campaign agains Russia was that Stalin had killed most of his generals on the alleged charge of crimes against the nation. His army was badly organised.

Don't think it was organized better before 1928 or after 1941. Organisation was bad too, but russian marshall Zukov was good strategist with large reserves. Germans fought on three fronts, altough most forces were in Russia.
