What is everyone talking about mods? I think its a download but can someone help me. And after someone tells me i just want to use the giuld super cannon really bad so can someone tell me a mod to get that.

mods are files that modify a game ( more units, better AI, new house, etc.) KH2, found at Dune Editing, is probably the best one out now.

Many people ask if the modifications are permanent. Just so you know, THEY ARE NOT. You can remove them at any time if you want.

Go to Dune Editing, it has about 42 mods available. And if you're wondering wtf does KH2 stand for ( ;) ), it's Kwisatz Haderach 2. Btw, House Corrino can build a Mega Cannon in that mod. Not the Guild one, but similar. It's called the Imperator and it's their superweapon.

I did download one but how do i know if it is on.

play the game in skirmish (mods only work in skirmish) and see the changes.

Mods also work in multiplayer, but make sure you play with someone who has the same mod as you.

Some mods, like KH2, also have patches. Make sure you download those as well (don't worry, their file sizes are very small)

You know... updates. Small improvements. They usually fix bugs and/or balance problems. For example, when you use the auto-update feature in Emperor, you install any new patches (but there are no new patches for Emperor since version 1.09, and there will never be any more)

Edric, about KH2, is it possible that you could create a program that will delete ALL the files that KH2 installed? I recently re-installed Emperor because the folders were becoming hard to manage or I couldn't keep track of what went where or which patch that was etc, etc. Then I got an error, KH2 somehow popped back up in the game when I had turned it off. Otherwise I think you should release a new zip file (ok uploading it might take some time but it will make everyone's life easier ;) ) that already has KH2 patched up.

Just so you know, when I re-installed Emperor, I had to do the following things in this order:

1. Patch to 1.09

2. Overwrite music folder with enhanced version

3. Place Official Map Packs in Data folder

4. Install fan made maps

5. Install KH2 mod

6. Patch KH2 mod

7. Use switch.exe to turn mod off

8. Replace .409 files with originals in Emperor folder

9. Replace .txt files with the originals in sfx folder

Alot of steps involved aren't there? The mod doesn't make things much easier, but it would be better if I only had to unzip the mod and use switch.exe and that was it, or if there was a program that allowed me to delete ALL the files that the mod installed and replace them with the originals automatically.

Ah, but there is such a program! It's called Modswapper and it works for all the KH2 files except the .409 ones (but those aren't essential, they're just for atmosphere... they're the loading screens)

Hmmm... maybe I will make a comple version of KH2 with all the patches included... but first there is one more patch to make!

There are *the horror :O* other mods available. There's mine, Corrino's Revenge, there's um, Reign of Shadows, Shadow of Arrakis, Guild Wars, etc... Try them all!

Yes, of course, try them all! Or at least try the most popular ones (the ones with the most downloads...) In any case, just make sure you remove a mod before installing the next one.

Some may automatically replace existing mods...mine will, KH has a switch, etc...Some mods are also mod-swapper compatable.

textures? is there a program or something?

Textures are .tga files - make them with any good graphics program, then put them in Emperordata3ddatatextures. You will need to work out what the correct names for these textures are - see the 3ddata0001.rfh/rfd file for what files you need to replace.

But making textures is part of making mods, not using them... so you should go to the Dune Editing forum for help.
