UPA_Celeborn
Hey heyI'm and old Dune 2 fan, used to play it on my old 386, and I still belive it was the best RTS game ever made! But!!I recently had an urge to play Dune 2, and I got windows 2000 on my computer. I found the Super Dune 2 and downloaded it, ran the setup, selected Soundblaster as soundcard (as it is what I have, a SB Audigy) and said yes to extended memory. And, it didn' work, surprise!!! :PThe game starts, with no sound, and in the intro, I cant do anything.. whatever key I press, it just plays on..So I went back to windows, rightclicked the dune2.exe files, and enabled XMS memory and set it to 1024kb, and tried again, same thing...I have tried every soundcard in the list now with no progress. Is there any patch, or any trick you can use to get Dune 2 to work in Windows 2000?My system:AMD Athlon XP 1900+GeForce 3 TI 500512 MB RamOS: Windows 2000 ProfessionalI wanna play Dune!! I wanna play Dune!!! :'(RegardsJesper AKA UPA_Celeborn
Nyarlathotep
If I'm not mistaken, I think some people have it running on Win2K.It's hard to tell what the culprint could be. I know that a lot of people have/had problems running games on Win2K. Maybe someone who has Dune 2 and Win2K can post here if it works for them..If you think your soundcard is the culprint, you may want to disable it in the harwdare settings and then try to start the game.. UPA_Celeborn
Well I got the game starting now, but still no sound, the only sound I can get is from PC speaker, altho retro, not cool enough for me ;)If there's anyone here with Dune 2 on win 2000, please tell me how you got the sound working! :)Cel. Gobalopper
Not all soundcards support DOS games so yours might be one of them. I know my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz works with Dune II.
Timenn
I have some sort of Creative, and that won't work with old DOS games. Just because they are too lazy too let that code stay in the driver >:(

Nyarlathotep
The system you're trying to run Dune 2 on is a Windows 2000 system right ?Also, do other games/applications work well with the SB 16 ? Or is it another soundcard that gives you this problem ??? If so, what OS are you running on there ?
ethan
i (did) have SB 16 on 98. it runs everything, even really new games like Max Payne and GTA3.
