Is it any good? I've seen good and bad reviews on amazon.com but don't want to rush out and buy it unless it is a good game. You all seem to know games pretty well, so thought I'd ask here.

it has its good points but it never got to me. I like the prehistorical to imperial age but then it get's boring to me. People still harvest resources by hand, even in the nano age and buildings don't realy look good. and nuclear bombs are too good. luckily though u can set an age limit so i can't go further than imperial age. What i do like is that the prehistorical age feels realy prehistorical :) and that you get to pass the roman empire stuff and then into middle ages and stuff. A bad point thought is that the difference between civilizations is not that big and not that cool, i mean everyone can build all units and i don't realy think it's cool that france can build war elephants.

I think its pretty good, all epochs are good, well i get in the mood the play digital and nano every sso often, but not that often, i like the ww1 to modern epochs best...

ww1-modern islands 2v2 :D alot of fun :D

I thought it was alright, until i discovered Emperor. To me, the 3d graphics of Emperor are a lot better. I'm not much for my marines jumping four feet in the air before they die. And there are a lot of other things that don't make sense.

But the gameplay is nice. You have to give kudo's for Microsoft actually creating a balanced game that spans so many epochs. But the odd thing is, if you save some swordsman, they become really powerful once their obsolete (uses them against some of the later epochs intending them to die, and they did surprisingly well)

I think it was a good game. Just gets repetitive after a while, and you really can't play all the ages in one sitting (even though technically you can) because of inflation.

yeh it does get boring after a while, i play it every so often, but then gets repetitve

Although i want to add that i thought that the campaigns were really good :D some of the missions are quite hard

heh 1 thing. it's not made by microsoft :). It is created by the one who thought of age of empires and then left and started his own company

Sorry, my bad. :) I didn't want to say Microsoft because i wasn't sure they actually did make it. I just had no other way of phrasing my thought. Thanks for the correction.

my faverite epocs are the darkages to-renisance. and ww1.

dont like nano age.to much useless crap. what are your faverite ages?

it was a pretty good game, though i never did get into it. It is different. But I did like the Imperial and Ancient Greek ages.
