Hmmm, Landsraad is dutch from my view. It means council of the country indeed. Land = country, 's' means that 'country' 'owns' something. And raad = council

Thorup, that sounded incredibly cynical.

It's Germanic. Leave it at that. (Note Germanic the language group, not German).

Council of the countries (= planets, in the imperium).

actually the germans don't even call themself germans but deutsch, germanic is the people in germany, scandinavia, and some other countries in middle europe if I'm not mistaken.

Hmm, but as far as I know they didn't bring some language stuff. Mostly it was Germanic. And some French, and English. And also much Greek. And latin, but viking? Hmm

Yes, that means that the vikings are an offspring of the Germanic tribes. And so are the dutch. It's more that you can call them 'brothers'

Galactic language of "Duniverse" is anglo-slavonic hybrid as described in appendix. So, first half is from english "land" and second from slavonic "rada", what means council or parliament.

hmm this could go on and on for ever and the anglo-slavonic well the English vocabulary have ancient danish words in it too from back when the vikings conquered england.

and Thorup

You see Timenn, this is the ultimate plot we have to take over the world. Every one has the word and thinks it's his, not noticing the Dutch invluance in all of it.

Makes you wonder when they are going to find out all the other things. ;)
