the harkonnens has got the planet lankiveil, giedi prime and arrakis. that's all their planets I know about

No one controls Arrakis, nor was there a exception to this. In the book the Harkonnens are killed at end by Paul and in the game the Atreides won the last great spice war and we dont know the outcome of this one. Anyways if you such a fucking Harkonnen supporter go on WOL and I show you WHY so many like Atreides. Until next post, Vilgent.

Could we be a little more friendly? :P

What is wrong with harkonnens? I only think they are cool, due to their ruthlessness.

but what I meant by arrakis, is that most the books I have read the harkonnens own arrakis...but I know they don't do it in the end.

although I got one idea for how they could resuscitate the harkonnens in the next dune book: what if the tleilaxu had blood samples from a harkonnen and grew a ghola.

Really? Then why is a scene from the Ordos ending of Dune 2000 in the intro for Emperor? And why is your mission as an Ordos commander to "recover territories lost by your predecessor" and not to "conquer new territories"?

It seems to me the Ordos won the last great spice war... All facts indicate it.

No......Notice in the intro movie, the Duke says I am Duke Achilis, Duke of Arrakis or something, then the Baron says something like the Atreides still go on about past victories? Until next post, Vilgent.

LOL. ;D Listening to everyone defend their respective houses is funny. Am I the only one that sees it as WW keeps the storyline open, so that they can continue the storyline in the next game no matter what happens? I mean, just look at the endings for Emperor. In each, the house you play allies with the fremen, ix and sardaukar, and the other two houses plus the guild and the tlelaxu turn against you. They even play it on the same map. AND the ending scene is just about the same for every house. There's the one with the guild and tlelaxu agents, which is standard for each ending, plus each house has a scene of it's units obliterating enemy units then destroying the emperor worm.

Actually it shows a scene from the Ordos victory. And your mission is to recover territories lost by your predecessor. In the intro where he introduces himself, Duke Achilles adds of Arrakis as almost an insulting "I should get the planet and I'm confident I will" gesture. Notice how the Baron Harkonnen laughs at Duke Achilles thinking he will win the war.

The Baron doesn't say anything about the Atreides going on about past victories... he says "I see the Atreides still harbor delusions of superiority", which doesn't really tell us anything about the previous spice war.

I repeat, all evidence points to the fact that the Ordos won the last spice war, then the other Houses pushed them back to a convenient 1/3 of the planet.

Oh, and the fat Baron is DEAD, remember? :) Go Gunseng!

Edric O is right. Lady Elara poisoned the emperor. But in the Dune2000 ending scene an Ordos saboteur arrives and blows up the palace. That would not leave much genetic material left to make a ghola of Shadam :).

Posted

Well, maybe Lady Elara herself took the genetic material... And besides, it doesn't matter if the Emperor is scattered over a 1 mile radius, the blast won't pulverize every single cell in his body! And as long as some cells are left intact...

Posted

Naturally, the Emperor's remains would be buried on Kaitain, don't you think?

And Lady Elara helped the Ordos in Dune 2000, remember? "The Bene Gesserit is our ally..." - Edric O

Not this Emperor. This one was named Frederick, and you probably mean Shaddam IV. You really can say Frederick is a duplication of Shaddam IV, but this one hasn't have any kids :)

I heard that DuneII had Frederick, but I believe it was mentioned in the Dune2000 manual that that game had Shadam, and when you win the Emperor Ordos campaign you hear the mentat say Shadam instead of Frederick.

No offense Vilgent, but WW was never exactly loyal to the books before, so they could easily have screwed up the rights of succession and let an Empress take the throne.
