a bunch of files went currupt..then when i tried to turn my harddrive into slave, my comp just stopped responding...then it owuldn't even turn on...after that i fiddled around with it for hours then i got it to wurk

Err, making the only HDD into a slave will mean either that (sometimes) you cannot boot from the drive, plus, it will mess up your CMOS because it's looking in the wrong place.

nah he means that on one comp his HD was corrupted (one file) so he took it (under my guidance ;) ) and put it in his other slow comp and made it into slave and replaced the file. He then removed the hd and put it back into his good comp.

I'm confeusd now. Was it weeks of consentration or just some hours ?

And isn't it easier to do that with a bootdisk. Boot the system in DOS or Linux with a small kernel and then copy the file on a diskette. Should take about 2 minutes I think.

And if the file is to big for a diskette you can boot your system with a network supperted diskette or a bootable OS-CD. YOu can simply make them with most of the CD-rm burner backup software.

Whatever way you do it, it shouldn't take more then 5 minutes.
