but EA dont give s***t and they ever after 14 years still act crazy. .. dune2k should be released to public but enver will happen , they still think can make money. there would be little solution to ask EA to sell dune2k copyrights ,

EA have no issue with modding or reverse engineering Dune 2000. The source code for Dune 2000 no longer exists, EA do not have the source code any more and neither does anyone else.

The original developers consider Dune 2000 complete, yes there may be artifacts of features they considered putting in, but if you speak to any game developer (like me for example) you'll find out that every game contains artifacts of features that were tested but never included. That doesn't mean that the game is not complete, if you look behind the scenes of Hollywood films you'll find a lot of footage that doesn't end up in the film, that doesn't mean the film is incomplete.

mvi said something right try real steel for example.... they left out a whole story in it...

well as per dune 2000 well it was going for in a better better upgrade but due to release problems with date they removed stuff which they could not finish nor the ones which were not tht good... this can be found when you cut your hair its root still is there even if the hair is gone... ( hair=feature of game , root=left out code) ;) ...

Are you aware that Dune 2000 wasn't actually developed by westwood? It was made by Intelligent Games developer studio, supervised by Westwood.</p></blockquote>

True. In addition, it's obviously dune2k wasnt finished. There are some text entries related to cooperative campaigns, ability to toggle stealth on/off, even microphone support. You can find all these in text.uib. Game was supposed to be 8 player not 6. Also theres another text entry: "NOTE: This is not the final version of the game" or smth like that IIRC.

About pre-release versions, a guy AmigaBot talked about a friend who played a pre-release version but he couldnt contact that guy. He said the game had coop already & all stuff. If we think logical: why they deleted all stuff in the release version then? Nobody believed him although probably coop & rest of stuff was really intended but probably never finished. From what i know westwood needed a game to release cuz TS wasnt ready at that time and they decided to release dune2k. Not sure if this last piece of information is true though, cant remember where i read about it.

About editors, RA was the only game which had map editor (talking about westwood not ea) and for some reason they stopped adding editors in next games... Bad decision.

Theres a shocker :p

Indeed, the game seems as complete as they wanted it to be, barring background files that probably weren't touched after it was finished (like notes saying the game was not finished, likely left over from internal testing). Any extra features that remain in the game files were likely cut for time or technical constraints.

If you want more proof of a completed game with lots of cut or ommited features, halo 2 comes to mind. It actually had netcode for online co-op, a whole level that was cut, several cut scenes, as well as numerous enemies and weapons. However, no one will tell you that the game was unfinished, in fact, most will say it's one of the best games they have played. The fact is this stuff happens when games are in development, as MVI stated its fairly common practice.
