If you read my posts carefully you would notice that the actual number of voters who supported the ruling party were HALF. This was indeed tragic for the ruling party. They are a tiny minority. People boycotted the elections parody. The rumors say that they won't last more than 3 or 4 months, and escape 'night' from the country to avoid being lynched. Now if they escape court martial for national treason remains to be seen.

One more from Makis Triantafillopoulos on Green Development Myth:

The minister of Education (Yes that puppet woman whose aim is to destroy all education in Greece) is Exposed for not subsiding the research a group of about 30 scientists and engineers to further develop the Bio Formula (and further research on Bio Diesel) as they 'lacked' experience on the subject. LOL! Yes their leading engineer, who is the president of the union of engineers of Zacynthos and the inventor of the vehicle lacks experience! Then who HAS that experience? Maybe a moron relative of yours or some other minister's who took his diplomas with his daddy's money? You are a joke! You are the one lacking experience and a national threat!

HYPOCRITES: You STOLE the votes of the people promising 'Green Development' and you suppress EVERY independent research on it. What we have only seen on Green Development so far is Green Taxes. Whom do you serve? Deplorable puppets of your bosses-the capitalist dictators of the world who daily scheme how to exploit the sweat of the masses and drink their blood. Wake up you people!

[c=#00dd00]You mean the actual number of votes they got was cut in half, due to abstention? Then you're right, it is a lot worse for them than I thought. And that WSJ article was laughably wrong... but then again, what can you expect from the Wall Street Journal.

Still, the fact that they were able to claim victory in the elections, despite losing 10% of their vote share and half of their vote numbers, shows the problem with abstention as a form of protest. Yes, if you don't go to vote, the government might know you hate them. So what? You think they care about your opinion? They already know they are hated, you're not telling them anything new. No, you should not abstain. You should go and vote for the opposition - the real opposition, like the Communists or SYRIZA.[/c]

Many people were disgusted and didn't bother to go to vote or cast an invalid vote as it was not national elections but district (similar to states of USA) and municipal elections (Not to mention that in Athens the new mayor actually won the elections with ~17%-and they call this a victory!) Some were still undecided at that time. They had hope that with their abstaining from voting, the government would get the message and change course. And there was no other option to choose: The right party a no option as they are impotent to rule (both right and socialists are responsible for current deplorable condition and corrupted to the same degree) and the left parties offer no practical solution. IMO Revolution simply doesn't fill the stomachs of the people it creates chaos. Logical steps should be taken and left parties have no vision and plan. Not to add that it is not only the Communist party and Syriza. Syriza was broken to 2, or was it 3? in current elections. A proletariat divided to one hundred pieces cannot revolt! And nationalists are no option either even though if they ruled the country we would soon be out of the crisis and development would skyrocket. The reason is their fascist, racist ideas.

But when national elections take place people will have to decide. And then the effect will be evident. Till now the government friendly unions were hiding and sleeping not to harm the government. But now with the attack on their salaries things are rapidly changing. For example in the coming week transportation workers will strike all day or in part from Monday till Thursday. This has never happened before.

-

And the government is passing an unconstitutional law that ditches workers' rights. For example: no lower salary guaranteed, overtime no more than 10%, part time workers (<4hrs) will now get only 7.5% more money than full time workers, workers can be employed for 'testing' to see if they are capable for a period of 1 year!!! and then if considered unsuitable sacked without compensation (thus an employer will keep workers for a year and then kick them out to hire new ones and keep them with lowest salary). So their 'dictatorial' rule and their aim to enslave the masses is becoming more clear.

Oh! I almost forgot to give congratulations to the Council of State (~ Supreme Court) for upholding the Constitution:

All buildings (going back to ~23 years from present) built without proper license (the majority I 'd say due to astronomical expenses and absurd laws to obtain one-OK most have a license (which might be similar to the one I have: 'issued in deviation [of the law]...) but owners add more than the license allows) should be demolished!

Oh you mentally retarded honorable judges of Council of State. It took you 23 years for this. How fast you render justice!

Now the government is free to go and demolish the widow's hut! Because nobody will dare touch their own illegal villas!

But of course you won't dare do anything more that destroying a hut or two of some unlucky unemployed people or pensioners. Dare apply the law and you will be lynched and hanged at the very same day. A revolution for sure here! ;-)

IMO going over 10pc of GDP is irreversible. Greece will go bankrupt and so will USA. The issue is the 'paper' they will wrap the bankruptcy with.

Wait, what? Maybe you mean a different number or statistic? Guess I'm not sure what number your post referring to.

A country going over 10% of debt to GDP is normal.

USA is actually nearing 100% and is projected to go over that in a couple years.

Financial Indicators of Canada

Go to very bottom chart on page. Canada was at ~55% ratio, and commentators scrutinized us for heading toward 3rd world status. Government of Canada got their shit together and dropped it to ~25%. I remember commentator on television recently said the opposition back in the day wanted even more cuts to help out. So when most parties want real change, it can happen.

Will be interesting with the current solution is to add more debt. I think USA total debt has doubled in 10 years, which isn't good. And what did they get out of it? 2 wasteful wars?

EDIT:

better source direct pdf file - net public federal debt of gdp peaked in 1995-1996 of 73.8%, by 2004-2005 it was down to 38.7%.

Hmm, linking not working. link: www.irpp.org/events/archive/jun05/courchene.pdf

Although I think in pdf they observe feds transferred debt to provinces, but overall still decreased.

Did I misunderstand something? Sorry. I refer to budget deficit over 10% of Gross National Product not Dept Level.

From Wikipedia:

By the end of 2009, the Greek economy (based on data revised in November 15, 2010 in part due to reclassification of expenses) faced the highest budget deficit and government debt to GDP ratios in the EU. The 2009 budget deficit stood at 15.4% of GDP. This, and rising debt levels (127% of GDP in 2009) led to rising borrowing costs, resulting in a severe economic crisis.

Andrew, I agree with you. Canada did a great job at reducing it's deficit in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Not sure with the size of the USAs armed forces that it could ever be possible. 11 full-sized Naval Fleets, 26 full-sized Air Force Squadrons, 1.3 million combat ready troops, 143 foreign armed service bases, 53 domestic armed service bases -- costs a lot of money. Too much.

Well in Greece we are over 15%. And as of now debt level is not 127% of GDP but 142.5 % of GDP.

Despite the EU and IMF loan and the attack of the morons on the salaries of the masses it is getting worse.

And why should it not?:

7000 Euro for 2008 and 2009 new year pie! Yes that's the amount of money ASEP payed! A 4 member family can eat for more than 2 years with that money, and these fat***s spend them in a few hours for 2 pies. Couldn't they put their wives to make 2 pies and hold a descent celebration within their offices? It would cost them much less than 70 Euro. With the thick salaries they get that would be peanuts. Instead they steal our money.

ΕΘΕΛ (public buses in Athens) has a huge deficit, and the morons decided to abolish it. It will be merged with other companies. And of course a 30% to 50% increase in bus tickets is considered. But on the same time the morons decided to make a contract for the position of a special counselor to the company for 3 years with a thick salary. Which company? After a few months that puppet will remain without company to counsel but he will continue to get payed. and even worse that guy is a pensioner. So he will be getting his pension and the thick salary doing nothing. Nice way to lower the deficit! On the other hand the morons are taking measures to combat unemployment.

No, that bridge boosted our economy.

Talking about transportation:

1. This is the second week with strikes on public transportation. :-(

2. New scandal: A driver for ΔΕΗ (public electric company) had an annual income of 146.000 euro. Hmm, this driver gets 12.000 per month whereas other drivers get less than 1000. Better throw your diplomas and become drivers supporting the government! Nice corrupted capitalism...

As for the lady, IMO, she had enough. Time to get pension. :-) . Don't forget that for the Brotherhoods the puppets are replaceable.

Will he spend those 3 years in jail or he will be out a few months after? But even if he does, consider that probably almost ALL should be jailed. Maybe the weakest link in an internal struggle for power or a scapegoat?

Likewise Syria can demand to be called Jezreel Valley and then invade Israel to liberate Nazareth, 'their capital' which is currently in the hands of the evil Israelites...
