How about a proper IRC channel that we can access using an IRC client, which is also accessible using a browser chat program?

This is as good as IRC but without the hassle.

We had an IRC chatroom.  It wasn't very popular, it died.  We had another IRC chatroom.  It wasn't very popular, it died.  We had another IRC chatroom.  It was very popular, hosted chats with developers of Dune Generations, members of the crew who worked on Children of Dune, and general pop in and talk chats.  It lived awhile, it died.  We've had a few other chat rooms before and since.  None of them got very popular.  Nothing much was happening in the Duniverse.

When big stuff is happening in the Duniverse and you get guests who are involved in it, the chat room is popular.  If not, they arn't.  Unfortunately, that's the way it is.  With the new movie (and inevitable game) in production, I think it's a great time for Dunenewt to start up another one, and I agree with his not using IRC.  This chatzy room may not be as "good" as IRC but it's a lot simpler and therefore easier for those, like myself, who are not particularly tech literate.
