Dragoon Knight Posted April 23, 2008 Share Posted April 23, 2008 Primero, Segundo, Tercero and Quarto are all ranks that are given in the League military, back in the days of the Butlerian Jihad. However, there seem to be different "grades" within those ranks as well.For example, Primero Meach was the overseer of all of Salusa Secundus' military before being blown to bits. Xavier Harkonnen, being the highest ranking officer left, was only a Tercero at the time, but gets promoted to "Tercero, First Grade" after the flames had died down.Whether or not you consider the prequels to be canon or not, however, is another thing.In addition, the Dune Encyclopaedia makes no mention of specific ranks (that I can find), though it does acknowledge that they exist. Did they have ranks?The Fremen are not a military organization in a strict sense, so they didn't have "ranks", rather positions and occupations. Naib, for example, is more of a tribal leader than a general. The Fedaykin are called "death commandos", so its not a rank name either.
