Does anyone here want to see EA re-release Emperor? Is it possible EA will even consider re-releasing it?

In my opinion, it's quite probable that most of you will want to see it re-released, if only to indoctrinate new players. But due to the nature of EA, that of a heartless corporation that cares only for wealth and power, it will likely never be a reality.

Nope. I hope they don't. I hope they put a lid on the game and forget it. EA shouldn't be whoring the game.

Emperor's time has passed, and all that's left is a small player base desperately playing the shit out of it like there was no tomorrow.

well, i would like to c a few new features like automatic maptransfer in online gaming and such things, but actualy i dont want a new game...i am not realy adictive to computergames. i tried a few other games and never get hooked....only to dune 2 and emperor....i love it like it is. they would make it probably to modern for my taste. with heros and thousands of keycommands or crap like that. i like it easy and fast like emp is.

some1 should crack the source code, and makle a few features and thats it. dont change the rules and dont change a winning team....hehe....like emp would be a winning game....:(

Unfortunately core game changes really aren't possible. Ixianmace and I were toying with the idea of an expansion that wouldn't disrupt multiplayer gameplay.

The main driving idea behind it was to introduce new game modes into the game by choosing maps that would come with the mod download.

People who had the maps would have the mod, so there'd be no out of sync problems. If you wanted to play a normal game, that would work too since the edits are only called into being by incidental units/buildings on certain maps.

For example, one game mode was Yak Attack. In the centre of the map are several separated 'hives' that generate yaks. The yaks can be killed to provide substantial experience points to your units, making the Yak Hives very important resources.

Another map was 'Capture the Fac' where each side would have to run a gauntlet of walkways capturing buildings as he went with starting units. At the very centre is a factory, the aim being to get to it first and pump out an MCV and other vehicles.

Etc. You can generate entire singleplayer campaigns using Save games as missions. And training missions too, like the ones I posted about a year ago with the laser tank training and other little games.

Because it's not really worth the effort. Coding for an out-dated game that barely anyone plays isn't really my idea of fun, especially when so few would even use the mod given the amount who download maps.

For those of you who don't know, a re-release is not a remake or huge change of a game. It is usually the exact same as the original, and sometimes may include all the previous game patches and/or updates to make it compatible with new systems and/or bonus non-game material, but not new features. For a good example of what I mean, take a look at Command & Conquer: The First Decade. IMO, if EBFD was re-released, it should just include all the patches, be compatible with new systems, and possibly include the FAQ, fansite kit, and desktop theme pack; but nothing else is really necessary, except maybe being bundled with an also re-released/patched/updated Dune2k that also includes bonus material, plus (if possible) the game Frank Herbert's Dune. Anyone hungry for Dune Generations (not to be confused with the canceled game of the same name, but it makes a cool title for a PC-DVD pack that bundles EBFD, Dune2k, and FHDune plus patches/updates and bonus material)?
