Alright. I have been batting around some ideas lately. One recurring thought, that has struck me time and time again, is this. "What happens when Fed2k needs more money, and the Denizens have not the Pounds, Euros or Dollars to pony up? What happens when this happens? /

Well, it's that time of year again.  I'm sure you've all noticed how slow the server has been lately, Davo just can't keep the Dungeon's inmates moving fast enough to power the bloody thing.

So, we have too options:

1)  Pay for a new whip for Davo to use to encourage the Dungeons Denizens.

Or:

2)  Pay for hosting on a new server.

So, what are we looking at? Well the plan is currently to move to Dreamhost on their Code Monster plan which would cost us $14.95/month if we pay for two years. The problem? Well I'm not exactly made of money and Mahdi has only promised to send along the $1.12 which he found under the tattered camping blanket he uses as a bed.  That was supposed to be his cardboard sandwhich money.  Now he's going to starve.

Because of this we are opening up the floor to donations to help offset the cost.

Moving to a new server will bring a number of benefits over our current setup. The most obvious being improved speed of the web server but there would be a number of other improvements behind the scenes as well. If you are interested in helping out please contact Gobalopper about it and he will fill you in with more details.

Thanks, from your loving Dungeon Overlords; Gobalopper, Mahdi, and Davo.

And no one comes forward to help pay for a new whip? Or for that matter, a Server? We would indeed be in grave peril! But fear not! I have a plan!

THE PLAN! (or foundation of)

Now, People may not pay up for a new site... They WOULD pay for a fully equipped, Tank Division. Think of it, we could do who knows how much damage! Or, we could simply hold Fort Knox hostage! We would be RICH!

Or, we could go carve a Republic/Empire out of Russia or South America (Depending on how democratic we are feeling and what type of temperatures we want)! It would be a grand thing indeed! Compulsorily Gaming! Free Booze! Even sleazy woman! Hell, Edric could even be given his own "Socialist Corner"!  ;D

I like where this is going.....

And No. I am not insane. And no, this is not the last of these threads.

Maintainance of a single tank, to say nothing of a tank division, is incredibly costly. Even if one spares enough to buy one, he'll have to keep it fueled, loaded and a crew assigned to it (3-6 crewmen at least).

One who can afford to have a tank definitely has so much money that any server payments must be laughable to this lucky person.

Mhmm. That's great. Now, will you be driving? And who will be the engineer? What about the gunner? Oh, and do you know Sasha, the Chechen rebel who deals out tank shells? Really? Greeeat! Now we can go on a rampage. With one tank.

Damn, MrFlibble beat me to it. Damn you MrFlibble!  ;)

By the way:

Q4 "I want to buy a tank with a big gun is this legal?"

Answer - We only deal in vehicles of historical interest with de-activated guns, and no modern military value.

Hey, I've got a better idea: we sneak into a zoo and steal an elephant! Then we tame it and teach to trample whomever we order to. And we'll feed it with potatoes, that's chaper than tank fuel. (However, we can still buy some and feed our elephant with tank fuel - just to see what happens ;))
