I've dowloaded loads of files to play the 10 days free-trial of Star Wars Galaxies MMORPG. I think it's quite cool. The graphis are ok, and the gamepleay is all-right, though I find the re-spawning of monsters quite idiotic. I mean they just keep respawning. ALL THE TIME.

Anyway... I just wander why doesn't anyone make such a game in Duniverse. I would LOVE to walk around in Arrakeen, or on Kaitan, Giedi Prime, Calada, Wallach IX, Ix, etc.

For those of you who played KOTOR I&II you know the feeling.

Star Wars Galaxies is dead, and yet somehow still dying.  It has been for several months now.  What you're playing now is a shattered and hollow husk of what was once a great game.  Seriously, after the trial period is up, go buy World of Warcraft or something.  SWG is just not worth the time or money, now that Sony wrecked it.

Your other point regarding a Dune MMORPG is a great idea though, one I'm sure has crossed many of our minds.  It would be great if EA would just say "Ah, screw it.  WTS [Dune Game Rights]", because that would kick ass.  Some up and coming company could take the rights, make an MMO out of it, and hopefully not muck it up. :P

I would buy and play a Dune MMO... but how would you make one?  Would you tie it in with the storyline of Dune?  Which era would you set it in?  Surely the developers would put it in the time of the Legends series, because that's what 12-year-old 1337-k1dd135 want (Leet Kiddies, for those of you not versed in Leet-Speak :P).

Hmm... so it's dead...  :'( too bad. I really enjoyed it a bit.

How would I make a Dune MMORPG? Well, have you ever played Gothic 1 ? Same gamestyle. YOU control the movement of the weapon. A simple skill tree. All things that you can do with the mouse or keyboard DO NOT require in-game skills.

And as for ideas for the ame itself? OMG! there would be tons.

The fact is that we could do something with the Doom (1) engine, of the Quake (1 or 2) engine because now they're undemanding, and because we could build it ourselves from the SDK. I think... I lost most of my abilities with C++ but I'm sure I could lend a hand. And Stefan seems to be a talented coder.

Of course, my ideal would be a Doom3/Quake4/UT2004/HL2 graphics but that would be quite hard to get wouldn't it?  ;)

Somehow I don't see a Dune MMORGP being very successful. I mean, if there is to be people who play such a game, then in the end everybody would have the same powers as Paul Atreides, or such power that it would be unrealistic. It simply would've been another MMORPG with Dune skins and sand everywhere...

No no no.... I mean a NO-GUILD RPG. As Gothic. You don't choose a class. You become a class... depending on your play-style.

I mean, no super-powers as Paul without a risk... The water of life CAN kill you. And it will depending on a random function. If the other deaths would be unimportant... pay fee and the Tleilaxu regenerate you... the water-of-life death would be permanent.

And besides, I do not wish Paul's powers. The life of a smuggler if more than enough for me in any universe ;)

I'm currently playing Call of Duty 2. And it's cools. I'm a HUGE fan of this king of games. I still have to try it out on multi.

It wasn't even launched... And it was some kind of RTS. The company failed, not the game...

The big problem is that no big company would back any type of MMO Dune game because it isn't popular enough to make but the money to support itself. It might work but ots just not probable
