Hi everyone, new here. I'm very happy to have found an active community of Emperor players, stupid EA.

From what I get from reading these forums, I understand WOL is pretty much dead? I've set up XWIS and want to play more, I haven't played in a while so i'm pretty bad...

Me and my brother want to play co-op together. I know LAN won't work, so we've tried playing together on XWIS. It doesn't matter who hosts, but one of us see the normal co-op set up screen, the other joins the game and sees a skirmish set up screen. The person who sees the skirmish set up also doesn't see anyone in the game. There is no option for the host to start the game or for the person who sees skirmish to acccept. We've tried /start from the host, but that just crashes the game... Can anyone help us with this problem?

if you are using ra's server (I assume this because you are using the /start command) then I dont think it will work because I dont think ra ever did any co op stuff.  could be wrong though.  did you try on the xwis server ?

I thought RA's server was the XWIS server? I'm a bit confused.. I used the IP from one of those stickied threads, I believe it was RA's...

Are you saying theres a different server I can use?

Allow me... <looks annoyed at the others for not clearing confusion  >:(>

There are 3 servers.

WOL    <=- Orignal Westwood server, hardly used by anyone, and on its last legs.

XWIS  <=- Excellent replacement for WOL. Now we can play 8 players online, and see who is online via a webpage

RA's    <=- The latest server, plays the most popular modes only (skirmish) with many more useful controls. Has almost everything XWIS has for skirmish games, plus some...

So yeah, RA's may not support Co-Op as thats rarely done online. If thats what you want to do, follow the instructions for setting yourself up online but go to XWIS, not RA's or WOL.

That will work !

Thanks for the help guys :)

It sort of works on XWIS, we can play the first mission together, see all the movies, then when we pick a territory to attack, and click accept, we both go to a connecting screen. When this happens both games lock up...

Be patient. I thought they were locking up when I tried it, it just took an age or two to sort it self out. Mine was also after the first mission...just hang in there.

Having said that, they may be locking up. :P

but also know that the co ops have never really been that great on emp.  always problems i've only ever finished I think one...

I remember we played one along time ago as ordos and got to where you go destroy the other's capital, and my comp locked up half-way through. :P  Don't think we ever finished the rest of the campaign though.

as spectral paladin said ,the coop campaign wont work on RA's server

it works on xwis...although there are a few problems with it,mainly the way the games AI handles things

one mission sp decided to capture a base(an objective),and everytime he did it crashed..so i captured it(player1)

and it was fine..

as for it locking up, even RA's server does that from time to time, its not actually locked up, as erjin said give it time and it'l come good..but if your still waiting after a lonng time, well buggers me,i didnt program it, blame ra  he did it! hes the one get 'im!

Quick ! Lets form a mob and...wel..."mob" RA !

I have done campaingn on XWIS and it took ages, and then crashed somewhere, so I gave up, but at the last check it did work...like a year or so ago...:P

Don't ever play with the movies. It wastes too much time, and the client (as in, not the host) can't skip it. Imagine being forced to watch some movie when you suddenly realise you're rushing for time.

I never had the devotion to beat the campaigns on co-op unless I'm playing with a more familiar person, or a friend. Heck, I have beaten none of them on singleplayer EASY difficulty.
