Curiosity: Opinions about EBFD's storyline

As someone who never went much in Westwood's Dune franchise, I'm curious to see how this was seen by EBFD's players.

Which part of EBFD's storyline/style did you like or find interesting? To which extent is it really like Frank Herbert's universe?

My own answer:

I just got to try a bit of all, and I guess that the franchise applies loosely to bring some action and factions which are more clear-cut evident archetypes. Dunish noble good-guys, destroy-guys, and efficiency dictature-guys. There might be some influence from Red Alert. Anyway, this is one of Dune many byproduct, and it's funny to look at what comes out of Frank's books. Added to what I mentioned, it makes it interesting in itself.

I liked the gory parts of the storyline, but storyline wasnt that important. I was a fan of the game, not the story.

But yeah, the gory bits. Like using the Sister to make an God Emp, or the harkonnens fighting each other.

How lcose is this to the books ? Ithappens to share the same environment, I guess.

I liked the storyline of the game, its very nice although sometimes a bit cheesy with bad interpretations on the movies, but this aint a hollywood show so it works nice. The storyline isnt far from the books and addapts well to the game itself as what the game is supposed to be.  :D

Its okay..but the campaign in WC3 its so much better...The wc3 (ROC-TFT) has the best campaign so far.

I would say WAR3 had a great story and a HORRID game..

i was one of the guys that got the game and said DAMN this rocks then deleted it 1 week later.. what a crappy RTS that was. but had a good story..

Now For DUNE.. I loved the books *note there are no ORDS*

so many houses that could be in the game , But i think as far as game play EBFD is way better then anything out there and the story in the game I DONT KNOW never played single player as of yet. I am still playing this game after all these years and hell im not that good at it. must be the story line that keeps me here  ::)

Someone really didn't like WC3 as a RTS?? I thought WC3 was a big thing, a masterpiece following StarCraft's perfect balance... Is this only your friend and you or really lots of people? I'm a tad surprised

i was one of the guys that got the game and said DAMN this rocks then deleted it 1 week later.. what a crappy RTS that was. but had a good story..

Guess I'm in the same boat because when I finished the campaign I done a couple of single skirmishes and I deleted the game as the skirmish games had no feeling in them. There was nothing breath taking or spectacular or atmospheric. Just quiet and slow in the beggining and the upgrades took long and you jump from jumpgate to jumpgate in search for more things to kill and destroy. As for the heroes, well its a shame they took the campaing heroes off the skirmish heroes as it looks far more silly now, lol. ::)

Like I said and its just My Opinion.. great story POOR rts.. just horrid and what with the 90 units crap. when u fight in town you cant see around building  limited on the anlges and fading building was not all that great.. I made a B line back on Dune. war3 went to ebay.

I know alot of you guys won't beleive me on what I am about to say and you can critsize me on it to. 8)

One time before the last time I ever spoke to BRENNQ(the REAL Brennq.) He told me that the WC3 micro managing was far more better than emp and seen as he seemed like probably the best player on emp in the WoL days, it seems typical not to believe him, lol. Thus it does not pris me away from emp one bit. :P

I beleive he has defected to WC3 as he told me its more a challenge for him! :'(

Wc3 has a great story...But the best RTS is Starcraft in my opinion..no RTS can match that game

starcraft wasnt that great either. BUT i will say it had good support.. blizzards best game was war2,,,, war1 was solid but hated holding down the shift key to mass units

i played round about 20 hours in my life another games. i played supaplex (oldschool), i played a lil bit worms, and i tried wc3 two days (it was boring)...hehe after all i get hooked by emp, but trust me, i never thought about a storyline. i just love the easy to handle and fast gamestyle and the comunity...thats all. i never read the books, coz i dont like science fiction books (but i read a lot) and i diodnt like the movie. so finaly, i dont know anything bout the story. no houses no names no happy ends or something else...hehe...but i love the game!!!

WC1 was okay....WC2 it was cool i still have it and play it on battle net....WC3 TFT isnt cool if u dont get online...In the online mod u got so many different types of games, thats why wc3 its great and its so popular..
