When I connect to the internet, it connects fine. After a while(about 5 minutes), it disconnects. Can anyone help? ???

can you provide us with a little bit more information...

are you on dialup or DSL / Cable. . and how doyou connect to the internet ?

Beowolf, check the connection settings for your dialin adapter with [ configuration screen, network adapters ].

Also, did you create the dialin settings yourself of did you get a CD from your ISP ?

Sounds like your Idle timer is active in Internet Explorer, Tools, account, properties, settings.

Uncheck the box in there that allows you to set a disconnect timer.

Also a well known Windows XP bug especially if you have alot of USB devices connected is as follows:

Go to your Windows control panel, then System Icon,Hardware, Device manager, then scroll down to Network adapters, right click on your Modem and select Power management tab, uncheck the box " allow this computer to turn off this device to save power " do this also for each of your USB ports, right down at the bottom of the devices list.

This is intended for Laptop users but is enabled by default in Win XP.
