Does Firefox use 128 bit encryiption?

I just search the help topics, and have not found such a thing.

Since I will be doing online banking and such, (which the banks highly recommend 128 bit security) I need to know whether it uses it or what it uses? Is it secure?

If a bank required 128-bit encryption and it wasn't supported by your browser, you not be able to complete the transaction. So there is no risk there.

As for if Firefox supports it, I don't know.

Well I doubt they would send me messages asking if I was using an 128bit security compliable browser, if I were not able to login. (The messages are available after logging in)

It will tell you on the prerelease one I am using, that you are now using xyz bit encryption, as it did for me recently where it said 256bit encryption...I was suprised, I didnt know webshites used more than 128...hmmm.

Anyway, I think I clicked the padlock to find that out. Plus, its such a basic thing, the Mozilla lot would be too ashamed to release a browser without it !  :P

the website encryption level is defined by the certificate they use.

Personally my own certificate is 2048 bit, and higher for more secure services.

If you bank server needs encryption inorder to verrify the transfer / connection, it doesn't mean you get 128. You can get HTTPS over 64 bit to with forced encryption.

Just for your info. :)
