Why if Rolan Hemeric make a Dune movie?

That son of a bitch could make a good Dune movie, like he did with Independence Day. Of why I've read, Dune movie was a piece of crap.

But there is a problem: Star Wars. Star Wars is a fucking bad copy of Dune, but their movies were shocking and people like them. I hate those movies.

The Dune film was brilliant, just the right level of wierd from Lynch that you would expect. It just deviated from the plot a little. But it was a good film.

Stargate: okay

ID4: cheesy

Godzilla: sucked

Day after Tommorrow: haven't seen it but it looks awful and no-one I know has liked it.

Given that track record, I think I'd rather have someone else do a Dune movie...actually I don't really give a shit if anyone makes one again.  The book is simply too much for screen.  Plain and simple.

Starwars has it's subtle similarities, but I wouldn't call it a ripoff though. The plot-lines are completely different. The *big* thing was the fact that spice was mined at Kessle, and Frank Herbert's lawyers wanted to take Lucas' arse to court over it.

The most shocking thing about Starwars is George Lucas' directing.

hmm thx 1138 was pretty damn good. no -- he is a pretty decent director. I mean not the greatest, but things like american grafitti and thx were great in my opinion.
