I assumed you bought into it because you seemed so eager to silence anyone who mentioned the fact that the movie had nothing to do with the book. And what exactly is your definition of "crying about it"? All we did was to raise our objections, and then you came in shouting, essentially telling us to shut the f*ck up.

Edrico dont sweat it man..... Acriku throws around

which includes insulting people by calling them crybabies, immature, etc.

I notice he only uses these insults when you disagree with him... or if you disagree with one of his buddies.

The mature thing to do would be to say ... " i think you are wrong or incorrect"

I'm gonna be flat-out honest here, Acriku, it's really hard to tell that you were joking from what I read of you up there. I think that's happened in the past, too. These sorts of misunderstandings, that is.

Well at first I was serious, then I realized how silly I was being so I kept with it as a joke. Every now and then (mostly in PRP) I will post messages that I just am not at all serious about. Which I've told a couple people about.

yea... edrico said in his above post that he felt like you were telling him to stfu basically.

It worked for me, try copying it into the browser if it doesn't show up as a link. It's pretty funny how common that page is with Edric's opinions.

oh it did work the 2nd time!!

well i agree with almost all but the end paragraph.

if youre gonna make a movie based on a book then you either stick to the basic premise of the book or dont claim to be making a movie of that book.

well. . I am at work and have nothing to do. . so why not readup with a few topics .. . but my-o-my. .. this was a laugh. .. :P

of all the works that have parts of previous books in them. . how come this one is different. . .

I quess you have all seen the film Evil Genius. . . or 1984. . with those 2 I mean The Matrix and Enemy of the State. .anyone kows a story that seems even closely familliar to Master and Commander ?

With those films they didn't bother to keep the origional title. And still people notice the resemblance with the stories. ..anyway. . I liked your point Acriku. . as always ;)

To the others .. yes. . you do have a point. . althought you are forgetting one crusial thing in todays world .. . it's called marketing. The all so well known sex sells and the enduring repeating slogans will really make people buy stuff....

It's all being created for a consuming society. . one who doesn't care if it's anything like the book....

Although it is fun to see people are really spending time on topics like this one about it. :)

Actually, I've read Master and Commander, and I've got The Far Side of the World to read, and I found that the movie was quite similar in both overall message, feel, theme, and plot as the two books. Granted that the movie was a combination of the two books rather than a direct book-to-movie translation. I found that the movie really matched what Patrick O'Brien wanted to convey very well. Portrayal of Aubrey was great, as was Maturin. Music was excellent. Man, I loved it.
