NOD vs GDI war

The GDI-Nod/Allied-Soviet comparison is pretty interesting.

In terms of ground forces, the GDI are pretty much the Soviets. They have a pretty solid medium tank design and the mammoth tank -- later replaced with massive Titan and Mammoth-II battlemech designs. On the ground, Nod is much more like the Allies. They have attack buggies and light tanks where the allies have rangers and light tanks.

On air, though, it's flipped. GDI resemble the Allies and have the more helicopter-like units, the ORCA fighter, and later an advanced ORCA VTOL with fighter, bomber, and carryall versions. Nod is more like the Soviets in terms of air power, with the high-speed Banshee in place of the MiG, and the powerful Harpy in place of the Soviet helicopter gunship.

I pretty much like GDI, one-on-one, GDI units can outfight Nod units in general. That, and GDI units end up being less costly in the long run -- as their heavier armor means they aren't wiped out as easily, with repairs being much cheaper than replacements. GDI also have pretty well-rounded unit teams. A Titan, Hover-MRLS, and Juggernaut combo is pretty devastating, especially when Wolverines are deployed to draw fire. In terms of defenses, GDI defensive structures are cheaper and don't draw nearly as much power as Nod. GDI, in fact, can operate without power and still remain decently effective. That, and GDI units -- the Hover-MRLS and the Amphibious APC -- can cross water as easily as they would land. Nod does not have this benefit. Meanwhile, the subterranian units -- Devil's Tongues and APCs -- don't have the firepower/range to be massed and used effectively, and if GDI are smart in deploying Vulcans and concrete, those enginners will never touch the bases.

EDIT: Basically, the Nod sneaky-tactics take a lot of time, money, and power to set-up, and if you botch the job, you make it easier for the enemy to attack you. If GDI can build fast, they will win.

wow, that's a pretty objective view... I pretty much agree. Join GDI and you get a lot more bang for the buck.

oh wow, we invented the stealth tank.... which does next to NO damage and is expensive as hell.

I used to play Tiberian Sun[gonna get back into it soon] and I just kept massing NOD artilleries and some SAM sites to defend them. Basically your enemy's army will be reduced to a handful after the artilleries shell them like crazy. 8) The Obelisk of Light is cool too. :)

Very intersting view except you left out one minor detail that is critical.

This game has the two sides setup the way you would expect it to be for a Big Dog vs an Underdog.

How you ask?

Well Nod has superior

yeah right Gunwounds.

you can only have one cyborg commando at a time, is immensely expensive and is easily defeated by the oh so well known Titan rush. You can treat cyborgs as mini vehicles, but they also take damage like mini vehicles making them weak to anti armor like titans.

The NOD superweapon btw cannot destroy a conyard by itself, not even a weapons factory i think.

And have you ever seen the disruptor tank online hahah in combi with the adv. carryall... THAT is how powerful the GDI is. No NOD base can defend themselves against such superiority.

Where did you get that picture from?

I remember that one, it's from completing GDI mission 1. In the movie, a GDI light infantry pod crashes down and gets the attention of the two cyborgs, then the light infantry then blasts the two cyborgs off.

exactly... representing GDI's superiority over the so called great cyborgs. Even our light infantry blow them to pieces.

I can say vice versa is much more usual. APCs with cyborgs with sufficient support of artillery, missiles and aircraft - that's a road to victory.

Actually Rene the Nod nuke can destroy a mcv.. but it takes a perfect aimed hit.... you need to stick the targeter over the upper right hand corner above the circulating fan in the roof of the mcv.

So you can make fun of the cyborgs all you want but the Nod super weapons definately rule.

But i must add that the cyborgs can be produced IMMEDIATELY from a barrack rush...

you wont have titans by then... you will have a few infantry and the cyborgs will overwhelm you.... you will have to put up a turret to stop from being demolished in the first 5 minutes of the game.
