The European Constitution: main points

1) A president for the European Council: to be elected by a qualified majority;

2) An increased number of issues to be diced on by qualified majority voting (the qualified majority set at a minimum of 55 percent of the member states representing more than 65 percent of the EU's total population);

3) The EU is to have a Foreign Minister to strengthen its image;

4) EU citizens from various countries

I think Number Six is a definite must.  It can be confusing going nation to nation and finding different policies in each.

Well, all those points seem perfectly good and reasonable, so what's all the fuss about? I really don't see the reason why anyone would vote against this Constitution. Even if they hate the EU with a passion, they should support this document because of point 8.

I think point 8 is just a formality. After all, I do believe Greenland left the EU at some point.

Actually, not supporting present form of constitution doesn't mean not supporting membership in EU itself...

There's a lot of fuss about the reference to the Judeo/christianic God in the EU constitution. Right now they've settled with a refference to the "Judeo/christianic/humanist tradition". The Pope said he was dissapointed, but the Vatican's not part of the EU so screw them :P
