1. You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of Federal

funding.

2. You have to believe that the same school system that can't teach 4th

graders how to read is somehow the best qualified to teach those same kids

all about sex.

3. You have to believe that guns, in the hands of law-abiding Americans,

are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology, in the hands of

Chinese communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by

cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate, and more affected by

Americans driving SUVs'!

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being

homosexual is natural.

7. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on

demand.

8. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments

create prosperity.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony

activists from Seattle do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually

doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe the U.S. military, not evil, tyrannical regimes,

start wars.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad, because it supports certain parts

of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good, because it supports certain

parts of the constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more

important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, General Robert E. Lee

or Thomas Edison.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial

quotas and set-asides are not.

16. You have to believe Hillary Clinton is all about "progress" and not

power. She just wants to help us out of the archaic system of governing

that we've been subjected to since our founding.

17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked

anywhere it's been tried, is because the right people haven't been in

charge.

18. You have to believe Republicans telling the truth belong in jail, but

a cheat, liar and sex offender belongs in the White House and you would vote

him back in there in a New York minute (if you could).

19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag,

transvestites and beastiality should be constitutionally protected and

manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

20. You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party funding by the Chinese

is somehow in the best interest of the United States.

21. You have to believe that the vociferous minorities who protest against

prayer and saluting the flag in school have far more rights than the

majority who believe in God and country and want these values to be

instilled in our young children.

I *heart* partisan lies.

Just pointing out that it wasn't to long ago someone posted a similar satire about how to good a good Republican.

Which was also full of vast generalizations.  I think that it's #6 that bothers me the most and is the most obvious outright lie, but 5 is pretty much BS too, 16 doesn't apply to all liberals (i.e., me), 19 is an outright lie, to the best of my knowledge (I've never seen or heard of bestiality at a pride parade), and 21 is a silly way to look at the concept of a just system of laws (that is, "The majority is always right").

I'd have to agree with Scytale, 2, 7, 12, 14, and 19 sum it up pretty well. 1 is stupid. But I think 17 is brilliant.

Dan, if you were sarcastic: The *heart* was cute.

Dan, if you were serious: I couldn't even begin to describe the sheer magnitude in the hypocrisy of your comment.

EDIT: "The majority is always right." -- well, yes, this is wrong, but doesn't democracy operate in the first place assuming that this is so?

I was being sarcastic.  And we have a judicial system because the majority tends to be wrong from time to time.  That little slavery thing.  The whole deal with segregation.  Yannow.

The majority also ended slavery. The majority ended segregation. The majority decided that segregation was wrong -- unanimously. Brown vs. Board of Ed. How else shall you practice democracy, perfectionist?

17 is...well...  Why not?  Most communist regimes were more or less puppet satellites of either the Soviet Union or China, so we have:

Stalin: psycho who should have been removed from office, as Lenin ordered

and

Mao: set a new record in number of bad decisions made during one lifetime.

Almost all other communist dictators were put in place and/or influenced heavily by those two powers (notable exception of Tito's Yugoslavia, which (as I recall) was relatively well run).

A Supreme Court decision does not a majority evince, as the decades of ensuing controversy seem to demonstrate.  Democracy works just fine, but we need failsafes against tyranny of the majority---for example, the fact that 51% of Americans may be Christian does not mean that the other 49% should have to pray in school.  (I'm just pulling these numbers out of my ass.)  Or if 90% of Americans are heterosexuals and think that the other 10% should be rounded up and put in camps, that's wrong.

or the extreme would be if you were a one person minority against the other 400 million americans... there is no way to stop grievances from occuring.

When the grievances deal with fundamental rights and liberties, I don't see how they can simply be ignored in the interest of convenience.

Someone saw the nasty people making a list to make fun of conservatives and had to make their own little list to make them feel secure again... Gods I loathe idiocy.

Yeah, Dust Scout would post something like, "21 Ways to Be a Better Human Being" with #1 being "Die."

I mean that in the nicest way possible, Dust.  ;D
