This movie was fantastic! Pitch Black (1998) was my favorite movie for a long time, and for this to come out I almost pissed in my pants with the anticipation! And upon actually seeing it, I now think that Vin Diesel is the coolest actor living today. As for the story, the universe of Chronicles of Riddick is amazing! Not too much in depth, as much as Dune, but it has enormous potential. The idea of an underverse is certainly appealing to me, and the way that Lord Marshal moved was incredible. The concept of Furyions is pretty appealing as well. Has anyone seen it yet?

I did, I thought it was decent, Pitch Black offered little foundation for this movie to build on, the movie gave you the feeling of tasting wine, you take a small sip then move on, in a way like the story. They pretty much build as they go. The whole "religion" and such was laking alot. They gave no actual information on this "religion" other than some cliche catch phrase "you keep what you kill". I thought vin diesal was pretty bad ass and his preformance made me forgive him for xXx. I liked the prison and the mercs and the necrolites (er whatever they are called). I felt hte lord marshal should have kept his helm on with face plate, it looked so badass, but when he took it off he looked goofed with no face mask and feeble without the helm. They should have given us more detail on their quest for the netherworld and emphasized more on this being a holy crusade.

over all I liked this movie but, I think it needed more. Vin Diesal was awesome in the movie, his baritone voice really adds to the "take no guff from no one" style that his character gives off.

Yeah, some details were lacking, but I also heard that this was part of a trilogy, and could be explained in the final installation. *Shrugs*

Pitch Black was a good movie, but is this new movie that much better than the competition out now? Does it fulfill a want to see more of "pitch black"?

If you want to see more monsters like from Pitch Black, you'll be disappointed. They do have monsters, basically over-grown horny dogs but nothing like what was in Pitch Black. It's basically a continuation of what happened to Riddick and his two new found friends, Jack and Immab, and what's thrown into it is a whole universe of Necromongers and their jihad (Dune anyone?) across their pilgrimage to the Underverse. It has a lot of action, killing, and kick ass stunts and scenes. The scenery is once again very beautiful, directed by the same director that directed Pitch Black. I recommend it very highly.
