I'm now working as hard as I can to release a public beta version of PowerSwapper this evening.

Ok, here's what I have to show you:

I didn't get to finish the download manager and publishing tool.

However, what I have is a fully working PowerSwapper(well, without the download manager :()

Just unzip it to where you'd like, and run PowerSwapper.exe.

To install a mod, please choose Emperor in the game list, and then a list of mods pop up.

Choose the mods you want to install, and click install. After that, you may click uninstall to uninstall the mod.

Click "Run Game" to run Emperor.

If you want to edit/create mods, go to the "Mod/Version editor".

In there, you may create a new mod(by just adding files and folders to the empty mod), or open an existing mod.

To open a mod, just choose to do so from the menu bar at the top.

Upon opening a mod file, all the contents of the mod will be unpacked to the "tempfiles" within the PowerSwapper folder.

Enjoy!

And remember, this is an alpha version!

The full version that will be released shortly after I arrive home from my vacation will accomodate all Emperor mods, and have a working download manager, aswell as a publish tool to publish your mods with.

NOTE:

PowerSwapper might not work for everyone. This will get fixed when PowerSwapper is put into an installer.

However, all files required to run it should be included.

The file size is 1,65 Mb because a few mods are included in PowerSwapper.

Yes the download works prefect and so does the program.

Maybe you should contact someone by MSN or some other chat program to get them to send it to you through that if you still have difficulties.

:( I have down loaded the swapper twice and it still does not work.comdlg32.o3x or one of its dependencies  is not registered. a file is missing or invalid. thios is the message i get, when i hit either mod centre or mod version button.

What version of Windows do you have?

Do you have Office installed?

With Visual Basic programs, you need to have those small files, and they're supposed to already be on your computer, so I didn't add them to the zip.

But please answer my two questions.

I took a long holiday from programming after I came home from Barcelona.

Long time has passed since I worked on PowerSwapper, but it's now near its release.

This time it looks really nice, with lots of nice features.

I don't have time to write much now, because I need to go to bed, and I just wanted to remind you that the project is not dead...

The long awaited PowerSwapper is now officially released!

Many of you already know about PowerSwapper, and now it is officially released as a mod swapper, mod downloader and mod packer.

To sum it all up...(quote from README)

PowerSwapper is three things:

1: PowerSwapper is an application that installs and uninstalls

  mods for you, without you having to unzip big archives, and read

  a long readme file to understand how to install the mod.

  When you install one of your mods, PowerSwapper opens the

  selected mod file, unzips the files, takes necessary backups,

  and you're ready to play!

  When you're tired of playing the installed mod, you can just

  click the uninstall button, and your mod is instantly

  uninstalled, and the backuped original files replaced.

2: PowerSwapper is a .mpk and .ver editor:

  As PowerSwapper needs its mods to be in a specific file format,

  an editor for these is included. The points of using a special

  file format for mods are:

  * One mod in one file. Not more than one file.

  * The mod files include various bits of information:

    - Name of the game the mod belongs to.

    - Version of the mod.

    - General information about the mod.

  * The mod file physically contains all the files of the mod,

    and along with these, automatically listed installation

    instructions for PowerSwapper.

3: PowerSwapper contains a download manager for mods where you

  easily can select the mod you want from a list, and click

  download. When downloaded, the mods gets automatically

  archived in PowerSwapper's smart mod archive.

I know many of you don't use mods because you don't understand how to, or think it's too much work to install one and take necessary backups and all that. PowerSwapper makes that extremely easy!

Finally a modswapper which works has been released, and can be downloaded by clicking here.

What you download:

The zipfile in the link contains an installation program. Create a PowerSwapper folder on your computer, and put the installer in it, execute it, and type "Yes" to answer wether or not to install PowerSwapper. When that is done, you may open PowerSwapper, and start using mods!
