New modswapper - PowerSwapper - OFFICIALLY RELEASED

Hi, everyone.

As Timenn's Modswapper had some minor problems working correctly, I thought I should have my go at it.

My new modswapping tool will be quite powerful. It will not use the old lgt file, but will rather gather all the mod files in one big mod pack. This will make it very simple to deal with mods and the modswapper, as all mods will only be one file each.

The tool comes with its own mod pack creator, which makes the creation process a breeze. A mere minute, and your mod is ready!

Powerswapper will also deal with automatic backups of your Emperor files. It works basically like Timenn's Modswapper in that it allows you to install and uninstall mods by just selecting one in the list and press a button.

I hope perhaps this can make it more fun playing with mods.

I will host the new mod files, and PowerSwapper will come with a download utility where you can just choose the mod you want from a list, and then PowerSwapper will download it and decompress it for you, aswell as put it in the right place so you can install it a second later.

So this will basicly mean you can download any mod and have it auto installed with an uninstall option? (like when you use a different mod)

I've now successfully installed a mod from a mod pack!

Everything works beautifully.

The mod that was tested was In The Destroyer's Grip, which is quite beautiful itself  :D

I must say that this is the perfect utility for those who uses mods and plays on the Internet, because they can install and uninstall their mods in a matter of seconds, instead of having to sift through the Emperor folder and its subfolders and remove files that way, which is rather tedious...

It works with absolutely all folders...

You can create new folders too, if you want.

I will need it to be able to replace the SOUNDS text file which I am editing in Conflict of the Landsraad mod as if it is removed standard play will have no speech!

Every file within Emperor can be either replaced or placed.

New folders can also be made.

One little thing - will you be willing to supply a mailing address (via IM) that I can send a copy of my mod on CD to?

The reason is that it is going to be well over 20Mb in size and I have no way of sending such a file through the internet (unless I can ftp onto someones site) so good old snailmail may have to suffice.

It's a little unstable, though, but it seems to be up a few hours a day.

And it saves you the money.

I'm waiting for Gobalopper to allow me to store the mods on his server.

I think he means mods being made now, and we can't upload anything bigger than 10mb, only Gob can do that.

All previous mods will be uploaded in this new format.

Each mod will be in its own zip file like before, but all the files in one mod will be gathered in one install file...

It supports really, really much. Dream, and PowerSwapper will support what you dream about!(To a certain extent :P)

It can basically mod all games that exist, and I will publish it on several modding communities which support different games, and then you can download and install mods for every game you have, just using this simple tool.

Sounds great!! But when you uninstall the mod will you be able to play it again without having to download it from dune editing again?

Of course.

All mods are listed, and you just choose which one to install.

Uninstalling a mod will make the game original again, and the mod which is uninstalled still exists.

When PowerSwapper installs a mod, it takes necessary backups of original game files automatically.

As a bonus, to keep the disk space usage at a minimum, all files within the .mod files are zipped, and automatically unzipeed, of course, when needed.

Yes, you will.

You just create mods out of them. PowerSwapper comes with an integrated mod editing tool.

It should've been released by now :P

But due to perfectionising of it, it will be quite a few days overdue.

This is mainly because of a new server system.
