really?  Have you looked at the middle east recently?  Look what Islam did to their education/technology/science/cultural advancement.  Any Arab that wants any hope of getting an education goes to Europe or America.  I hardly think we would even have computers right now.  Arabs gave us algebra via the 10 based numbering system...and they did that very early on in Islam.  UNfortunately, that is about the only contribution that the middle east has made to modern society  (oil doesn't mean anything since its merely a static natural resource).  Had Islam not taken hold of the middle east, they may very well be technologically & socially advanced.  But the religion itself has deprived the arab people, and put them mostly into third world status.

This is going to get out of hand. First off, I just want to say that America is not responsible for the 9/11 attacks; that would be like saying France was responsible for what Germany did to it in WW2. That is wrong.

Secondly, the French have as decent a military history as any other European or American power, perhaps, in recent years, they have decided not to pursue military advancement. This is their choice.

Thirdly, it doesn't matter who was where first, people can call themselves whatever they want. However, I think fedayking has a point in saying that a lot of Americans were, in fact, Europeans to start with. You think this would mean that Americans and Europeans should cooperate more.

Fourthly, I believe that the Crusades were an economic conflict that was waged on the excuse of being religious. This does not reflect poorly on Christianity, but rather the individuals who abused it. One can abuse any mantle of righteousness; religion, science, democracy, etc.

Fifthly, the Muslims didn't want to take Europe, they just wanted to secure better trading ports and routes so they could increase their material gains. Besides, how could they hold it?

Sixthly, the Civil War ruined half of America's infastructure. So don't get off saying that we havn't seen war at home. The Civil War was vicious, with upwards of 20,000 men dying in a day during some battles.

Seventhly, it isn't like Europe is in the poor-house, fedyakin, they could donate a good bit of aid themselves.

Saying that the muslims invaded Spain is to general, that would be like saying christians attacked France in WWII. Spain was attacked by the Moors under the Almoravid and Almohad caliphates, while the crusades were launched (meaning, started by christians) against the Egyptian and Turkish sultanates.

Now, to respond to Othe, I called you Europeans because the majority of the non american bush-haters in here live in Europe.

Even though the generic term "America" refers to Brazil as much as the Yukon, most people when saying "Americans" are speaking specifically about those who live in the U.S., namely the European, Australian, Mexican, African, Iranian, Chinese, Japanese, Russian (ect) people who make their home in the United States.
