What computer would you build - i.e. what parts and similar (custom-built, preferably [the computer, I mean.])

If possible please put links to the parts as well.

Not a 1gb Graphics card?

mayby. . . if you think the dual combined DVI output won't be sufficient.. .

is there a 1gig grafics card btw ?

i think it would be possible on a graphics card with shared memory. But it would be far from effective. So in that case... i guess not. So far 256 mb is the max. i think.

In the topic linked to above my PC is slightly different due to the fact that here it's just the ultimate one. . and in the other topic it's specific for gaming... :)

A 1gb graphics card would not be better than the 256mb ones we have today.

Games simply don't use anything more.

A 128mb version is also more than good enough.

Nyar, your choice of hard disks in your ultimate gaming computer is not very ultimate :P

You should definately go for SCSI :P

I was going to say that because Doc's PC is missing a DVD RW.

Don't want an DVD RW in my gaming pc.

I know SCSI is faster, but somehow I dislike SCSI.

you can currently buy 512 mb graphics cards, but they in fact are slower when you try to play games, this is because the cards are used for rendering purposes, like heavy ones on progs like CAD or something

how about future games, 1gb might be required for games which come in 2 years, and then you are prepared.

Why pay extreme amounts of money for those graphics cards now when they just cost "a few bucks" when you actually need them?

Just because you have a lot of money, you wouldn't be wasting it unnecessary...

It's like buying a mouse with, instead of the 486 processor for processing the optics, a 3GHz  processor...

Will do you worse, actually, as it needs cooling...
