ordos45 Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Our proxy servers at school are Microsoft, and they won't allow other OS to access the internet. That's an example of the compatability problem.
GhostHunter Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Microsoft is good, look, as was said before; what do you want the alternative to be? 10 (or more) different companies making their own OS, imagine the compatibility issues, and Hell, for a tech support guy, learning more than one OS would be a bitch. So what if they're Imperalistic? They don't push it to the extremes, the cost for Windows seems resonable for its functionality, and besides, you could always go to MAC, no ones slapping you on the wrist if you move from Windows.
Inoculator9 Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Frankly I don't see why some people in this thread like monopolist companies controlling an entire sector, but I sure as hell don't. The EU should have dished out a far higher fine then 600m.Exactly, it's like the old oil business in the United States. Microsoft is gradually sticking it's fingers into everything, and eating up all it's compitetion. Now since Microsoft's domain over our computers is almost supreme, they start leaking out stuff that other people can use to hack into their stuff, so that Microfost can say: "We've found a glitch, time for an upgrade."
Tio_Holtzmann Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 are microsoft and/or some people here more annoyed that the eu has actually proven it's got balls? and that one of the largest multinationals in the world has actually not just walked over a market for once? metaphorically speaking of course.
Inoculator9 Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 I'm glad they've proved it to those that didn't believe it :)
